What are some good AWD sports cars that I can buy in the USA? I already know about the WRX, the WRX STi, the Lancer Evolution VIII, the DSM AWD Turbos, the 3000GT VR4, the Stealth R/T, the Celica All-Trac Turbo, and the 330xi...are there any that I missed?

the DSM AWD Turbos

I'm strongly considering those already, the bang-for-buck is insane...I'd rather get a Celica All-Trac Turbo if I could find one though, I trust Toyota a lot more than Mitsubishi.

good point, BUT you'd prollly have to import a celica all-trac from europe. and that mite cost some $$.

that is, if you're in U.S.?

For AWD i would go with the GSX, reliability aside, its a great car...

You also forgot all of the AWD Audis. Audi's quattro is one of the best AWD setups ive ever drivin. The A4 Quattro is probably one of the few in the price range your talkin about, maybe a used TT as well.

I have no idea what I'm getting. I'm playing with ideas for now. Don't take any of my threads too seriously :)

Hmm, the A4 2.8 quattro from 1996-2001 looks nice, but it costs nearly ten thousand, and I could get a faster GSX for much less than that.

If it's in crappy condition, maybe. KBB gave me an estimate on a decent condition one for about $9,000, which sounds about right considering it cost $27,000 new.

kman where do you live, what state or area?

Las Vegas, Nevada. By the way, are you saying I can get a GSX for $5,000? Because I was talking about the A4...

no the a4 you can get for that price like by me in chicago you can find them for 5-6 grand in decent shape

Well, you can't do that here. To get a luxury car that cheaply, you'd have to go into the early 90's.

I can't seem to find any. What year did they start making them (I know they stopped in 1993)?

They made them from 1988-1993

That one looks nice, but pick-up would be a bitch and a half, I live in Las Vegas. I'm sure I can probably find one in SoCal, since I'm moving soon and I'll be an hour away from L.A. :)

You frogot one, the Subaru SVX, they quit importing them in 1996, but they were and are awsome cars!

3.3 L horizontally opposed flat 6
230 hp
228 ft/lb tourque

Only downside is the only tranny option is an automatic :werd:
Plus the trans. can't handle a lot of power, back then Subaru didn't have a good enough transmission to put in the SVX, they do now though, it can be found in the WRX, so obviously WRX to SVX tranny swaps are quite common.

Oh yea, that 230 horespower 228 ft/lb tourque from the 3.3L horizontally opposed flat 6 is not turbocharged!

And Yes They Do Make Aftermarket Turbos! :evillol:

I didn't forget the Subaru SVX, I just didn't mention it, because A. it's too heavy for my tastes and B. I'd prefer a manual transmission. Still, I have to give Subaru credit for making such an interesting luxury-sport :)

I would stay away from the DSM's. If I had to do it all over again...I'd never even consider it, it's been nothing but problems the whole time. I would go after a WRX or a Stealth since they're lighter than the 3kGTs.

Maintenance on the 3000GT/Stealth is pretty high, I'll stick with the WRX if I can afford it.
