If you want a truck that kicks a$$, buy any dodge.

If you read consumer reports magazine, they have an issue this month (Jul 04) on full sized pickups. Consumer Reports is not fair to Dodge Trucks; For example, It's a TRUCK, not a Car, and handles accordingly (which is NOT like an accord :))

Consumer Reports seems to like the Toyota Tundra the best.

Make up your own mind. I Like dodge the best and they don't. So who's right?

After 404K miles, and no major mechanical problems on an 18 year old truck, I think I can say I'm right. :)

My boss heard about the bad gas mileage the Dodge's were getting, Ford was of course out of the question, so he bought a 2004 GMC Sierra with a 5.3/auto, brand new not used, earlier this year. At 15000 km the truck needed a head. We could smell antifreeze occasionally so he took it in, sure enough it needed motor work. I couldn't even believe it. The gas mileage is the shits, it's on it's second head on one cylinder bank, it's just not something that should happen to a 4 month old truck. I could see it rusting out after 4 months but this was just retarded. I was thinking of purchasing a GMC truck since I don't like the new Dodges, but now I'm pretty sure I'll just get another old Dodge. I can't break a good habit like that, so the same kind of truck is what I would buy. You can't argue with results and dependability...

Whats wrong with the new Dodges ? Best looking truck on the road in my opinion. GMC would be second best. Chevy is front ugly, Ford is side and back ugly. I drive a 93 F150 my last fall apart Ford. Ill try Dodge next time. They are sweet.

The old trucks look fine to me. Dodge had the concept of pickup truck perfected it, and then they just went ahead and overdid it and made it worse.

They couldn't keep making wicked trucks like that because then they would never sell any new trucks, as everyone would just own the old ones. That's the way the world works, I guess. I know what a good truck is.

My first Dodge was a 97 Ram 4x4, first 5,000 miles front brakes and rotors replaced 4 times. They never could get the front end aligned properly. The transmission began acting up at 5,400 miles. The cruise control went haywire and the dealer never was able to correct the problem. Doge replaced the vehicle with a 98 Ram 4x4. No major problems with it till I hit 60,000 miles. I have developed a shudder that no one has been able to correct. I have been told that it was the torque converter, the transmission itself, and now they say it might be the angle of the driveline and I should replace the rear axle and gears. Sounds no matter which repair I choose it is going to cost me and arm and leg to repair. No more junk Dodges for me, my next truck will be the Toyota Tundra.

Just out of curiousity, what is wrong with the new Ford trucks. i was thinking of buying a new Dodge truck, until i sat and drove the new ford. Also the F-150, FX4 is the best selling truck in North America. I would really appreciate some examples of why Ford is not a good truck, before i make a wrong decision, lol.

Fords are probably good trucks, but they look like shit. I'd never own something a truck that looked like it does. Those new Ford trucks look so square, I hate it.

Looks!!! Thats it. Well if its looks that you are worried about, than it obivious you have not sat in side a new ford. To compare the looks of the interior of the dodge to the ford is like compairing Kraft dinner to Lobster. There is no comparison. And just my opinion of course, i am more worried about the part that will be surrounding me more. When your driving you dont see much of the exterior. Unless of course you use your truck for a lawn ornament, i fail to see your point. You mention, nothing of important things, such as TRANNIES, towing rates, engines, reliability, and so on. Or even safety ratings. One would wonder if you ever heard the expression, beauty is on the inside. I'm not defending the Ford's by no means, all i'm looking for is some sound reason on why not to buy a ford. Other than it looks like crap, lol.

I've always owned Ford, but when it came time to buy my current truck I shopped all the brands. This mostly started because I rented a 2500 Turbo-diesel for a project and loved it, so I decided not to be biased.

My take is that today's Dodge just felt tighter and better than the Fords. The Chevy looked and felt like junk to me. The interior is old-looking and chunky, while the Dodge has clean lines. The Ford didn't feel as cheap and rattly as the Chevy, but still not as nice as the Dodge.

So after decades of Ford truck ownership, I own my first Mopar product ever.

The imports...well, while I think imports have generally higher build quality and reliability than American, I just wasn't all that impressed with the trucks. The Tundra is great, feels great, drives great. I hate how it looks. And it costs a LOT more (for the year/mileage range I was shopping at least).

On the looks side, I have always found the new Dodge look to be the best. The latest Fords have almost caught up, but still don't have it.

Hey, if you're going to tow and haul all the time, get the Dodge with the Cummins and 6speed trans, it won't break. At least that's what I heard. And Bleeddodge is straight on about the old Dodge p/u's, they are TRUCKS that drive like TRUCKS and last like nothing else. Why do you think that old country song says, "Ford and a Chevy, still last 10 years like they should"? Because the Dodge is still going strong after 18-20 years.

Well, leaving the Bow Tie Band and joining the Mopar ranks is a good decision. Which Ram you need depends on what you need it for. Dodge has the fastest pickup ever made in the 1500 SRT-10. It has the Viper driveline (Aluminum V10, 6-Speed and 500hp) For towing and pulling, the 2500 and 3500 Cummins Diesel has 600lbs/ft of torque, most on the road. The Hemi hauls, but it will drink from the tank, and the 16 sparkplugs get expensive every 50,000 miles. Stay away from anything with the 4.7L, to lame. Also, the Dodges are the biggest pickups going - Make no mistake, these are trucks!

I love my 02 1500 4x4 quad cab but I am paying the price with repairs. Tranny right now at 82,000 miles and I'm told I'm lucky to get that far. It will probablycost me more than all of the repairs so far on my GMC.

My GMC before this Dodge didn't have half the problems. 144,000 miles and no tranny problems.
