A/C problem

I have recently replaced the pistons and rings on my 4 cylinder 1997 metro LSI. The A/C worked perfect before that process, now that it is back together and running the A/C doesn't work. Anyone have a clue what would have happened to cause that. We did not tamper with the A/C and the fuse looks good. Looking for help/suggestions.

You may have bumped something and broke a seal, and it leaked all the r12 out. Take it to a shop, and have them evacuate all the R12 out of the system. They should do it for free, since R12 is so expensive, and it's free r12 for them. Then buy an R134a conversion kit, and charge it. Get a bottle of UV leak detector also, and check for leaks. Make sure you don't charge it over 40psi, but no lower than 30psi.

Thanks for the info but it is already R134a so I think I will just try the leak detector to see what I can find.

Check wiring to the compressor and the high and low side pressure switches.

Make sure the compressor clutch is getting 12v when you turn on the A/C. If it's getting 0, try jumping the compressor clutch straight from the battery to see if it clicks.
