94 v6 4Runner Overheatingkiltboy 07-06-2004, 11:35 AM Got a 94 with a v6 that is overheating. Has a new radiator and thermostat. A guy told me that it is possible that the head gaskets are reversed if they;ve been re-done. I also saw a posting where toyota was covering the first replacement of headgaskets on this engine. I'd appreciate any ideas you've got. Brian R. 07-06-2004, 12:27 PM I have heard of lower (suction) radiator hoses collapsing and causing overheating. Try and squish it with your hand. If you can squish it, probably a problem and you need a new lower hose. kiltboy 07-15-2004, 11:23 AM Pulled the heads. Gaskets were installed backwards blocking several coolant ports. somebody couldn't read....they are marked right and left ishop4less 07-15-2004, 01:17 PM Thanks for updating your post, some people just post a note but never update to what happened after all. rionsito 07-20-2004, 11:03 PM Does anybody know if Toyota would honor a second repair on head gasket, I had mine done a few years ago but yesterday, I had to tow my 93 4 runner back to my house the mileage on the car is 130,000. I have no idea what it would cost now in days to get it fixed, I am looking for options. thanks rionsito Doug Rodrigues 07-24-2004, 11:32 PM I would go into the agency that did the original repair and discuss the situation with the manager. Nothing to lose by doing that. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
