What gas mileage do you get on V10?youngmanvr4 07-05-2004, 01:54 PM My friend (soon to get married to my sister) is thinking about getting a 99 Dodge 2500 4X4 auto V10 but doesn't know what gas mileage he is going to get. We test drove the 99 V10 yesterday and i showed it will get 8.8 to the gallion and he wants to get about 12 with out pulling away thing. He doesn't have a lead foot like me. So what mileage should you get with one. It does not have the 410 gears. Do you think he can get 12 all the time...city and highway? youngmanvr4 07-07-2004, 12:01 AM Anyone??? Some body here has got to have a V10. slantsixness 07-09-2004, 09:19 PM He might get lucky and get 10MPG, but it'll take luck. 12-13 is possible with K&N airbox and flowmasters, but thats a whole lotta dough... BleedDodge 07-09-2004, 09:28 PM Is getting a V10 really justified? It's not like a married couple is going to need a truck with that much power to tow THEIR BRAND NEW $50,000 CAMPER TRAILER or anything for their honeymoon. It makes about as much sense as what I just said. They won't have the kind of money to operate that truck and keep it practical, unless your family is rich or something. If you guys are, indulge in buying a V10 pickup, by all means... LTJGWorth 07-11-2004, 08:01 PM Yea the V10 is a waste. More money to buy the thing, and more money for gas. If you going to tow, use a diesel. They are made for towing and a diesel is made to last about 200,000 miles. BleedDodge 07-13-2004, 02:06 AM Don't be a fool. I'd never be in this situation. I'm smart enough not to get married, nevermind buy a truck right when I'm getting married, nevermind buy a V10 truck right when I'm getting married. I can't believe the things people do these days. Maybe that gives you something to think about. I don't know how else to put it. slantsixness 07-13-2004, 01:22 PM buy a V10 today, get divorced tomorrow. That's how I see it. buy a narcoleptic minivan today, have a happy family tomorrow. That's how I did it. chevynutss 07-16-2004, 11:55 AM Try to find a 5.9 liter Cummins turbo diesal with a 6 speed. They get alot better gas mileage and all my friends that have one say they have much more power. fredjacksonsan 07-21-2004, 10:07 AM My brother's got a V10 with 4.10 gears and manual trans. If he does the speed limit he'll get almost 13mpg highway. He gets about 9 towing heavy stuff. I've driven the truck, very very easily, and got 12.9. Not real fuel efficient, but lots of power. He did smoke a Hummer the other day. Just walked away from it.... He was towing his loaded trailer. :O riceburnersuck 07-28-2004, 11:46 AM try the toronado which replaces the air cleaner, it improved my dad gas mileage by 5 miles vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
