This may sound like a simple thing to do but I've come across a number of problems. My car is a 1996 UK Clio RL Versailles 1.2 with virtually no optional extras. Hence the car only has the front 2 speakers.:ylsuper:

I wired in 2 back speakers routing the wiring along the sill panels and into the back of the new stereo. This works fine but is a mess. I noticed when I was doing this that I had to cut into wires that are already there for the rear speakers (ie there are 8 wires coming out of the radio and into the loom - 2 for each speaker). Curious as to where these go I had a look at the front speakers which I am replacing anyway as they suck. There are 4 wires coming out of the loom into each front speaker and the colours match the ones at the back of the stereo. However, having cut these wires and wired in the front speakers to the front wires and the rear ones (much more tidily) into the rear wires, the rear ones have stopped working. Now, besides the 1x10^billion chance of each of these wires having a break in them at exactly the same place, what could be wrong? My rear speakers work when wired closer to the stereo but when they are wired into the same wires closer to the front speakers they dont work.

Help from anyone who has a similar car and has done this would be gratefully accepted (as would help from anyone who hasn't but knows their stuff).:D

Pics will follow to explain in more detail...

**update**
After looking at a haynes manual I've found that 2 of the 4 wires coming to each front dashboard speaker is for the optional door mounted front speakers which my car doesn't have. Still doesn't explain where the wires plugged into the rear speaker plug at the back of the radio go though.

Hi there i recently fitted some 6x9s into my car and found there was no wires for the rear speakers so i took my car to halfords so they could look. they told me clio's that dont have rear speakers are not wired to have any. so i had to wire them upto my iso wiring from the instructions given to me by the cd player 2 where green and 2 purple, that may just be for jvc though.

anyway i was wondering how you wired your dash speakers because it tells you in the haynes manual 2 are for the doors and 2 for dash does it matter which pink and white wire i use for the dash because the one for the dash is ment to have a red stripe but neither do?
