HELP!!!!

96 Jeep Cherokee - I am trying to change the wate pump myself - as always to save some money

there is a bolt on the left side behind the pully that I cannot get to because of the pully (no room) and the fan is in my way

If I could get the fan off - I should have some room

how do I remove the fan - it spins as I torque

appreciate your help

When I removed mine on my 94 I first sprayed the heck out of the bolts with some rust eater...then waited a day. After that it still spun a little so I used two wrenches...one on another bolt to hold it in place and the other to loosen what ever nut I was working on...had to tighten one back on to break the last bolt but once they were all broke free the first time they all came off really easily...

If your changing your water pump your going to want to just take your time and pull off everything that is in your way. It helps alot...this is what I did. I pulled the power steering pump and bracket (tied the pump out of the way so I did not have to disconnect it from the lines). Removed the electric and manual fan. Removed that tension pulley. I also pulled the radiator and hoses out. I figured since I had it all apart any way I might as well spend the extra hundred bucks and replaced *everything* in the cooling system except the heater core (hoses included). It made a HUGE difference. Chances are if your pump went bad then your radiator will have sludge in it too...mine was actually coming aprt at the bottom from the rust belt weather...went with a bigger radiator too...now the Jeep runs nice and cool....probably 10 degrees cooler than before...
