well my metro is definitely having all it's problems while i own it!! LOL today my car has seemed to come up with a surging problem. previously, this car had a tranny slip problem, but that has long been fixed and also this doesn't feel like a slip. it accelerates normal, and when i get around 23-30 mph it seems to surge, kind of like i am pushing on the throttle and then releasing it and doing this over and over quickly. (ehh!! uhh..ehh!!uhhh..ehh!!!) very quickly but still accelerates. plus car is a tad jerky as it does this. so i have researched what could cause this (excluding things it couldn't be since i've done so much to the car already!) here is the list:

*EGR valve?
*Air Tempereture Control faulty?
*Temperature sensor? (also, cooling fan doesn't turn on)

thoughts would be appreciated. thanks in advance

Sounds more like your throttle postition sensor needs to be re-adjusted if it's surging while you've got your foot on the gas.

Most defintely the TPS....at the very least, it's out of adjustment. If you need help with checking it, let me know the year, etc....and I'll do my best to email you the testing procedures...but you will need a decent VOM. Kinda weird that the injector cleaner seems to have stopped it from acting up though.
