You can enter the code but whenever you disconect the battery you will have to enter them again mikecor 09-27-2004, 07:37 PM i have a 98 chevy cav as well and the manual came with it. if want i can scan and send you the how to permanently disable theftlock on the stereo. For i enabled it then disabled it and i know it worked for someone killed the battery on the car and the stereo still works and kept the programed stations as well. Mangoamerican 09-28-2004, 03:41 PM hey man, you should look at your local junk yard.. KJRich 09-30-2004, 09:01 PM You can permanently disable the Theftlock on the pre-2000 radios (I believe it changed in 2000). After 2000 you can't really disable it, but it doesn't really matter since you don't need to mess with codes/or combinations. The 2000 and newer radios somehow match up with your vehicles VIN number in the car's computer. At least, thats how it was explained to me. Bottom line, the only time you have a problem with a 2000+ radio is if you try to put it in a different car than it came in. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2010, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
