I have a 1990 Corsica with the 2.2. This car has me totaly baffled. It will start, albeit hard, but starts. Every so often she will idle at redline RPM'S and you have to use the trns. to stop for stop lights, other times she will only idle if you keep your foot on the gas. I have replaced the IAC, TPS, Complete tune-up. Could this be the Crankshaft Sensor? ANy help would be much appreciated.

Well, that could be a vacumm leak, or a messed up ECM, or any number of other things. But the vacumm leak sounds most likely. Check all the hoses to be sure they arent split, cracked, or broken. Replace any that look like they are falling apart.

Thanks, I have checked all the vaccum lines already and replaced everything for lines. THat was my first thought before I went to replacing parts. I am just hoping its not the ECM, the bone yard here wants like 150 for one.

Sorry I dont have a fix, but my 89 with a 2.0 does basically the same thang. I've replaced the same parts you mentioned (except crankshaft sensor) with no luck. Mine seems to be worse with damp weather, I thinking about gettin a can of silicone spray and just start squirtin. My local junkyard let me try an ecm and that didn't help. Might work for you though, who knows? This has been going on for a little over a year now. It's had the rough idle (at times) for 5 or 6 years but now I have cruise control when I dont want it. I'll be buying brakes a bit sooner than planned.

Yippeee!! Finally a steady idle. After 3 junk yard computers, replacing the fuel filter (next to gas tank), and taking iac off and cleaning thoroughly in the throttle body where the iac goes, it runs like it's supposed to. I'm thinkin when I put the new iac on I didnt clean the hole where it goes good enough. That along with the fuel filter. Anyway it works, for now.
