money to spend on sti, what do i do?kuppa 06-27-2004, 04:02 PM hello, i am new to this form but have been reading it for a long time, finally chose to sign up and start posting! I have around 4k $ (canadian) to spend. What do you guys (girls if there are any here :D) think i should go for? I want to first change the xhaust and put a nice catback but i dont know who makes nice sounding ones for the REX need suggestions plz. Also i will be getting a nice eurolite underbody neon kit. What else do i need??? I would like not to try and void the warranty right away so whats worth doing with the 4k on the car tha will not void it. Performance parts are a + cuz i wanna race, what about BOV's, what is a good make for the sti (hks?) also if i do put a bov, will i have to make n e changes to get the air back in the circulation? thnx for the help. Purple5thgen 06-29-2004, 01:15 AM I was going to asking the same question. My friend bought a brand new 05 wrx, I dont know alot about WRX's, and neither does he. But I do know turbos so i was thinking. Is possible to get a new EMU and raise the boost on it. how about a FMIC, arethose hard to find? How much boost does it comes stock with? Diesel2NR 06-29-2004, 11:39 AM A BOV isn't going to help you any unless you're running higher boost. Stock, all you're gonna get is a noise that some love, and others think is the most annoying thing in the world. You can probably get the intake opened up with a new air filter or short ram intake (Cold air isn't gonna help because the turbo's just going to heat the air up again, and I've heard from people on COBB and other message boards that they've gotten detonation from using CAIs). Then a Cat-back exhaust and I'd be done for a while. Messing with boost and the ECU might void your warrenty. I'd talk to your dealership about that. Edit: And mounting a FMIC will require cutting of the front bumper at least. Plus, I believe you lose a few HP from it. Nice if you're going for a sleeper though I guess. freakray 06-29-2004, 12:08 PM FMIC don't cause you to lose power, you can get the air cooler with a FMIC which helps boost your power. ragnarok720 06-29-2004, 04:30 PM FMIC actually is better than than top mount supposedly. But, you can get an N20 spray kit for the top mounts that basically freezes the intercooler. Same concept of a water sprayer but a lot colder lol. Short ram intakes are pointless, even more so than CAI. I use a CAI. I didn't notice a HP gain but did notice steadier boost past 15lbs. Unfortunatly CAI, the wrong ones, will lean out your engine more than it already is and can blow up #3 cylinder. If you want ot fix that problem, get an ECU and fuel rails. It will even out all the fuel and then you can run much higher boost. Back to the STi parts question. I'd look into getting header back exhaust. I'm sure with the 2.5L you will get decent gains by letting that bad boy breathe. Then look into getting a new fuel system with a larger turbo. Not the injectors because i believe the 2.5 has 550cc but look into the fuel rails. Hey man there are some really nice and good sounding exhuast that are made for the impreza. One of the companies that made it was Tanabe, there is also the HKS company that I would suggest for the rex cause it is really good sounding. Also another mod that you could do for the car is get an hks cold air intake system. If you need anything else let us know. Other people might have more of a suggestion too for you I am new on the forum but I have been reading about imports for a long time. :evillol: vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
