Tires keep losing air pressure

My sister-in-law emailed me a question I can't answer. It seems the front tires on her 2000 Town car keep losing air. She says a mechanic told her it's because she has aluminum wheels which react to the salt on the streets (Syracuse, NY) and corrodes the rims and causes the air leak. I have my doubts about this, because she doesn't really drive it that much in the wintertime, as she spends most of January and February in Florida (the car stays home in the garage).

I hope someone "out there" has experienced the same problem and has a better answer. ???? She doesn't want to buy new wheels as suggested by the mechanic.

Thanks to anyone who will respond.

I had the same problem with my Town Car. Even have Nail Guard brand tires. Come to find out I had several punctures in my tires causing the air to leak. Tire pressure would drop and stop in the 20 range. Replaced tires and my problem was solved.
