96 Cavalier, Air Conditioner Cost Questionsnapaxp 06-26-2004, 06:55 PM Does anyone have any idea what the real cost is to replace a hose, dryer, and the refrigerant of A/C in this car? I was told the dashboard needs to be removed and that it would take 6.5 hours at a cost of $1100 to replace the A/C in this car. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you! -Jason Three_Fingers 06-26-2004, 10:34 PM Hmm... I got told the same thing about my '93 (R-12 system). I got a hose from a junkyard, I said to hell with the accumulator/dryer, but ya can get one in the same place and retrofitted the whole nine yards with R-134a and an 8oz can of compressor oil and it gets so cold in ma car that I gotta keep breaking the icicles off'n ma mustache. $1100.00 indeed! Pfft... iamritesh 07-22-2004, 10:53 PM Do you mind elaborating what you did ? I am having the same problem in my 98 cavalier. AC not working and am looking at about $1000. Hmm...
