So im going over to my friends hous when i do a wide turn and a truck comes out of nowhere it seems and hits the front end of my left fender and a little of the bumper left hud and hood. I sure as hell was pissed off, but i think it was my fault, anyways the guy says it was cool cuz his truck was fine and mine was all messed up, no reson to report cuz i got liability and my ins. rates go up. So theres a big dent in my car, and i dont want my folks to worry about it. I need some help on how to fix, or anywhere to get parts. Im focusing on the left fender for now cuz its most noticeable.

Costs i have searched:
Fender from market: abotu $80 black/primed
Fender from junkyard: $26, but different color. There was one 240 like mine but fender was taken allready.
Auto Body Shop/Repair Estimate: $1300.

If anyone could help me out i would really, REALL, appreciate it.

These are options ppl have told me:
A) Remove dent on fender myself (need help on doin, paint is not scratched that much) Fix it a little to make it look decent.
B) Buying one from market and paint it somewhere else
C) Getting one from junkyard and putting vinyl that looks like my paint or leave it as it is for a while.
D)New Body kit or Silvia headlight conv. (got $500, can get more later)
E)Repair at auto body $1300
F) Search some more auto wreck centers for my fender
G) Save up, sell my car and get a new one.

I parked my car in my rear driveway and covered it. Using the FOX for now. Any suggestions.

You could just say that when you came out of a store the car was like that. ;) Or you could get a car cover until you get it fixed.

........
Thanx man, but my folks freak out big time when something like thta happens. They want justice!!!! They'll get mad and then they get mad at me then eventually the whole world. Before u know it we'll be in chaos or at least me. But it was kinda my fault so i dont wanna tell if they dont ask. Funny, its the second time i crash on my way to my frineds house, one with the prelude (right side same position) and now with the 240 (left side same position). The thing that sucks is that i had my glasses on to see better, but it was totally opposite. $100 wasted to waste more money.

I was thinking of sticking with option A
but option C is quicker.
Anyone got some extra fenders lying around... :)

Just push out the dent on the fender. Remove the bolts, take it out and step on it. What i did on my car until i sold it. I know someone who might be willing to help. He helps others a lot and he is in cali too. IM him at vsiev1 haven't seen him on this forum for a while.

Get a picture of the damage, if it's not to bad, pound it out as best you can. Try to avoid replacing the fender if possible.

it's hard to fix the dent. You can try popping it out with those dent fixers, but I heard it's hard. What bodyshops do is pop the dent out then fill out the unevenness with glue then paint over it, it's not easy to do it yourself.

This is ridiculous. Why try to fix the dent when you can get the junkyard fender for $26? That is cheap. Then color match the paint (paintscratch.com) and paint it.

#1 finding a fender in the junkyard in good shape for $26 is not an easy find. I went shopping for a quarter pannel for mine, the cheapest I could get for a decent condition fender was over $250.
#2 Removing the fender completely and attaching a new one is complicated and time consuming (for a beginer).
#3 if the den't is not too bad, you can try to fix it quicky with out removing the pannel, I was able to remove a pretty good size dent from my front fender, accessing it by removing the plastic guard in the wheel well (easy).
#4 Matching the paint so that his parrents or any casual observer won't quickly notice is quite difficult due to the age of the paint on the rest of the car.

He already stated in his first post that he found a fender at a junkyard for $26.

No, he said the fender he needs was already taken, and that it was the wrong color.

No, what he is saying is that there is a fender that is there for $26 but is a different color. There is a 240 the same color as his car in the junkyard but, the fender was taken already. Learn to read dude.

man...you should sell your car and buy a bike or something, i think this is a sign that you cant drive well, but if you insist on driving then id say go with a new fender(from the junkyard) and get color match paint at the local car suppy store(it really isnt that bad, despite what everybody says) and come clean to the parents, no reason to lie, just be like "dont worry i will take care of it." but yeah thats my advise.

also if you dont come clean to the parents and need a lie just say that its a jdm fender and so its wider or some shit. they will be like "sounds like a waste of money" but thats better than "what the hell, were taking away your driving rights!!!"

Just like I said...... After you color match the paint and spray paint the fender (don't forget the clearcoat, Give your entire car a wet sanding with 1500-2000 grit sand paper shine the clear coat that is already on the car. This will give your car a very nice shine and it will make the rest of the car match the fender better.

Yes I agree sand the entire car and repaint and add clear coat, it's really easy to do! I'm sure you will be able to finish that entire project in a few minutes, because if you don't I bet your parrents will wonder why on earth you are sanding your car down.

I don't think this guy is a professional painter, and with that said he will probaby get a paint job slightly worse than the lowest grade paint from maaco. It will take you MANY hours to sand the entire car down, I sanded a hood once and it took me over 3 hours to get it just right. Painting a car correctly takes a huge amount of time, if you want a paint job that won't suck, it will take at least 5 days to finish it taking into account prep coats and drying.

OR you can pop the wheel well cover out, take a screw driver, and rub the dent until you pop just about all of it out. I don't know how jacked the fender is, but the only way I would replace it in your circumstance is if you find a cheap replacement that is the same color and won't require you to paint your whole damn car.

thanx for the advice guys
anyway i culdnt get a pic of the dent cuz i cant find my dig. cam. so it will take a while, anyways, i took out the fender this morning, so far my folks havent figured out the crash yet, ive been very nice and driving my fox and parents car for a while. The only thing i need to do now is hammer out the dent or what? cuz i did what kenohki said but the dent is no reacheable, and besides what do i use to get the dent out, becuz i was slightly tapping it with a small hammer from the inside and the paint stated to crack.

left side too
i got 2000 so im thinking bout the front end conversion, but my other option was the junkyard plan to buy replacement fender etc. and just color match

It's hard for me to say with out seeing the dent, but pounding it is usualy a bad idea unless you don't mind repainting it, what I did to fix mine was take the soft handle of a screw driver and rolled it across the dent with a considerible amount of smooth even force. Is the metal creased? or is it just a big dent? If it has a nasty crease on it then you can pound it out (at the expense of your paint), it's not going to look _GREAT_ but you can get a decent cover up job that way. =(

You can barely see the damage on my fender:

The right front fender had a large dent over 8 inches in diameter going all the way to the wheel well and up to the hood, this is what it looked like after about 4 hours of rubbing with that screw driver, No touch up paint, and I never removed the fender, just the well cover to access it.

If you look really closely in the last picture you can see there is still a tiny ding left that I couldn't quite get out, but it was a huge improvement. Keep in mind, mine did not have any creasing on the metal, creases are consideribly more difficult to deal with.

yea don't hammer it....you got to press it slowly out. The easiest way to pop it out is to take if off and step on it gently. How i did it on my old car.

its not a very even dent. Ive started to step already and its starting to look a little better, but i think some hammering might be re

johnnyboy5

damn this mouse!
...anyway as i was saying
some hammering might be required but i dont think my folks would notice it as much as the dent, and besides it had a scratch b4 anyway, so im planning on taking it with my friend to get it painted. The dent is not like an even cylinder or sphere, its more like a circular polygon with many sides, what that called again, octagon or something. Sorry i cant show any pics, gotta clean my room big time 2 find my cam.

Kinda sounds like the metal is creased then, if there are lines on the dent. You are still better off applying smooth even pressure to it, it takes longer, but you won't tear the paint up.
