Hello, can anybody tell me what RPM a '98 Intrigue with the 3.5 liter V6 engine shifts at when at wide open throttle?

First off, you must mean a '99 Intrigue with the 3.5L. Look at the EPA emissions sticker under the hood to verify the model year. The 1998 Intrigues only came with the 3800. Anyways, I believe they shift at or slightly after 6,000 RPM. I'd need to drive my girlfriend's car again to verify this for sure.

Are you sure they didn't come with a 3.5 in '98? I swear my brothers was a '98, and it had a 3.5. I will have to ask him to make sure though. Thanks for your help.

I am 100 percent positive that 1998s only came with the 3800. I investigated up and down before my girlfriend bought hers last summer. If you're looking at the manufacturer date to verify this, anything later than 6/98 would be considered a 1999 model year vehicle. Also, 1998s don't say Oldsmobile on the back of the trunk lid on the right side unlike the newer ones.

Actually in the earlyier years the 3800 was standard and the 3.5L was an available option.

Oh, lord, how hard is this to get straight??!! The 3.5 wasn't ready for production when the Intrigue was introduced. It was designed for the Intrigue, but GM just couldn't get it together in time. Sound familiar? Anyway, the Intrigue was built INITIALLY with the 3.8 - during the '98 and '99 model years. Then during the '99 model year, the 3.8 was replaced with the 3.5. Which shifts, BTW, at least in my 3.5, at the redline which I believe is 6,500.
