dually axle on van

For somtime now I have been wanting to put a dually axle on my van (econoline 150 cargo van). I am fairly new to the automotive scene, but hope a project like this will help me learn new things.

I figured that I could do a simple even swap; with future plans of upgrading suspension. Am I being naive? Any input on problems I might run into such as things not linning up or anything would be appreciated.

I had planned on using either a ford truck dually axle, or prefferable a ford cube van dually axle.

Nothing will line up. The E-150 frame and spring set-ups are completely different from the E-350 dually, which is ONLY available in the "stripped chassis" E-350's. There are also at least FOUR different dually axles, while all take the same tires, the brakes and spacings are different.

I'd suggest that you skip it, but it would be a learning expierence.

Ok, thanks.

But is there any axle that would fit? Or would I have to mod the hell out of anything I tried to tuck under there? What if I got a E-350 cargo, would that help at all?

I can tell that it won't be an easy install, but is there anything i can do to make it easier?
I had also thought at one point of putting the cargo body on a cube van frame, would that work?

I'm a noob grasping at straws, I know, but I'm just looking for as much input before I shell out cash for the somthing that has no chance of working.

Thanks to anyone that can help.

Make sure the van you chose does not have the sliding cargo door.
