98 JGC 5.2L Water PumpFondew 06-22-2004, 08:38 PM I need to replace the water pump on my 98 grand cherokee. After taking a close look at it I notice that there is a metal tube coming directly out of it that feeds the heater core. There seems to be no fittings on this tube, its just a straight shot into the pump. I looked at a new pump at the parts store and it doesnt come with a tube already in it. before I tear it apart can anyone tell me how does this tube get removed and reinstalled. Is it pressed in or what? I'M BAFFLED!!! Any info greatly appreciated!! Thanks: Rich nick capage 06-25-2004, 12:36 PM one bolt holds the tube to the water pump.then just pull it out,at the end of the tube is a o ring. replace it, put black rtv silocone on it and re install dksob81 09-09-2004, 12:40 AM that black tube get's mounted to the Drive Accessory Bracket with a bolt, and there is an O-ring atached to the end of it, I think a newO-ring comes with the Gasket for the water pump,, just put the new O-Ring on the tube and put a thin coat of clean engine oil on the O-Ring (it will help the O-ring slide inton the water pump), and push the tube into the water pump do not twist or turn it, u may break the O-Ring which will cause a leak. and make sure u put some RTV (BLUE) or (RED) on the block and the water pump and then put the gasket on and torque to spec (30 ft./lbs) vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
