What a ride!!!!!my97blackgst 06-21-2004, 08:23 PM Hey Guys, Today I found out just how much I really love my cars handeling. It was about 7am this morning and just had a light rain and it was still sprinkling some. I was behid a school bus going about 40-45mph going into a turn. All of a sudden when I am starting to slow down for the turn I fell the ass in start to walk out from me, Before I knew it the car was going straight and the road was going left with a 5 foot drop off on the other side (mind you the road was tilted at about 5 degrees inword) After a sudden blast of gas with the wheel turned left I found some traction before going off the edge, The about 2/3 of the car is off the road and I am going sideways. My passenger (my little bro is calm as can be, mind you this only lasted 3 seconds) I look to my right (the way the car is sliding) and see a road sign I am heading dead for. Another blast of gas while sliding sideways gets the car back on the road before hitting this road sign head on in the passenger door. I get back on the road to find my ass end sweeping around clockwise with oncoming traffic not to terribly far up the road. 2 360's later in the middle of the road. And a 180 finds me at a complete stop on the side of the road that just happend to be a parking lot for a church. I get out to survey the damage...the damage is my sideskirt (passenger side) is ripped up and some how I guess i glazed that road sign and it knocked off my door handle and made a small dent in the door (something a plunger could/and will get out. Nothing is leaking from the car and other than the cosmetic it runs perfectly normal. Me and my bro get out of the car and started laughing at each other saying "Dude!!!!..that was awesome" My mom and dad were about 3 minutes behind me and I call them to say 1st off I am alright and tell them what happened. My dads forst comment was you were going to fast. Haha...following a school bus, But what turned out to be a miracle for me the car directly behind me was one of my best freinds who vouched for me saying I was going the correct speed etc etc.... He even slid into that turn that took me and my bro for a ride..The cause of this accident? Oil slick in the road. Total damage from a bodyshop to compleatly repair my car and fix a few other cosmetic things? only about $900 dollars. Not to bad...God only knows that it could have been worse and me and my bro seriosly injured. Overall I am sooo happy with the car and it's handeling. I never called the cops or anything I'll just pay it out of my own pocket that way I am not paying higher insurance for the next 5 years. Well...just thought I would share my experiance and why these cars are so awesome. Cheers Ben ashah000 06-21-2004, 08:30 PM Hey school buses here SPEED. My school bus driver usually did 40 in 25(subdivision) lol. Anyways.. that must have been scary as shit.. glad your ok :) RSLaser 06-21-2004, 08:51 PM glad your ok yea, cars can be replaced, people cant. BoostedSpyder 06-21-2004, 10:09 PM FWD is way cool like that. it's like riding a bike, if you get into trouble, give it more gas! glad ur ok with minor damage ;) joemathews 06-21-2004, 10:12 PM And yours isn't even AWD ;). I love these cars, man! I don't care what my Honduh buddies say about the poor design and space economy of our cars--I think they were designed and built fabulously. The other day my sunroof motor died--sunroof stuck open. I started freakin out b/c it looked like it would rain soon. Then when I looked in my guide I discovered that there was a special hex wrench included near the spare tire to close the sunroof manually! Why are these cars so great :D? JoeWagon 06-21-2004, 10:15 PM Did you know that you can turn off the car and have another 20 or so seconds to roll up the windows? BoostedSpyder 06-21-2004, 10:29 PM ya that is a good one too! guitarXgeek 06-21-2004, 11:02 PM Also, you can push that pedal in all the way (the one on the far right), and your car moves really fast! Honduh owners can't say that :icon16: ashah000 06-21-2004, 11:05 PM Also, you can push that pedal in all the way (the one on the far right), and your car moves really fast! Honduh owners can't say that :icon16: LMFAO  :lol2: thefro 06-22-2004, 12:21 AM I agree school busses drive too fast. my junior year of high school one day I got rear ended on my way to school. I was only driving a 91 carolla at the time, and the good news was that thay paid for the car and then some and I got the day off school. duckydsp 06-22-2004, 02:06 AM I just learned this on the 350z. Anyone have window problems where their window is loose and it hits the rubber on the door when you try to close it. The 350s window rolls down a bit when you open the door and when you close it, it rolls back up. JoeWagon 06-22-2004, 02:32 AM BMW and mercedes do that too. ashah000 06-22-2004, 09:50 AM Hahaha I noticed the window thing on some of the cars at the auto show.. I swear I spent 10 minutes playing with the window opening and closing the door :p NOFX0617 06-22-2004, 03:20 PM my dads turbo mini cooper does the same thing and i did the same thing with the window. open and close, open and close. RSLaser 06-22-2004, 03:43 PM LOL, you know while were posting there is someone in a parking lot somewhere playing with them... LandoAWD 06-22-2004, 03:46 PM yea, cars can be replaced, people cant. [hijack mode] Dude, I used to have a 1966 Scout 800 w/ some goodies along with my Laser RS. Wierd. [/hijack mode] my97blackgst 06-22-2004, 05:49 PM Oh yeah...On my way back from my destination I had to go back through that turn. This time there was a police officer and a ambulance putting two people in the back going for the hospitial. Guess it just wasn't a very good day for that turn. I got another quote from a body shop for $1300, I think I'll go with the $900 dollar one. I got to thinking if this would be a good time for a body kit, What do you guys think? If I get one it will be very very tame as I am more about go than show. Cheers Ben JRichter 06-22-2004, 07:06 PM I got to thinking if this would be a good time for a body kit, What do you guys think? No need to over-complicate the lines of your GS-T as I see so many owners do to their poor Eclipse's. The 2G is damn sporty as it is. Now if you drive something as bland looking as a Civic, I can see the need for an aggressive body kit. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
