Hi anyone out there has any info on y a forefunner would get ice cold for 3 minutes and thereafter blow only hot air??this is my second vehicle witht his problem and repair shops are not giving me any affordable advice..any suggestions much appreciated..

I don't know any specific reason, but it is probably a safety switch tripping to prevent damage to other components. Its ok to pay a mechanic to find the problem. Doctors don't give away free advise so why should mechanics.

thanks Tomsriv,,I didnt mean i wasn't going to pay for it ,,but i have gotten like five different reasons from different mechanics ,with no one willing to say it is this or that..I have paid for a diagnosis that was inconclusive so i was just reaching out to see if anyone out there had similar problems.

Might be that you are low on freon and are near the pressure cut-off setting.

thanx brian,,i forgot to mention that with a guage attached the guage goes to zero and the air gets hot..its as if there is a blockage or something.then is u leave it for like ten minutes and start it again,,it will be icwe cold again for 3 minutes

Yup...agree with Brian R. again! You'll have to have the system evacuated (drained) and have at least 30 psi vacuum applied for 30 minutes or so to dry out the system. Your problem will more than likely be corrected unless you have a mechanical defect in the system. In any event, you'll still have to evacuate the system as a first logical step.
