99 Grand Prix fans not coming on!snowman4evr 06-20-2004, 06:36 PM Wondering if anyone might have any suggestions as to why my fans wont come on. They will come on however when the ac is turned on. Does this mean the realy is good? I replaced the temp sensor that was next to the gooseneck. The car will run hot when left idling. By that I mean that it bubbles into the overflow jug. This is a 3100 v6 with about 90000 on it. Also after it warms up and it is shut off then started back up, it idles up and down. Dont know if the problems are related. Car runs great though other than that. Has plenty of power, idles smooth. thanks ahead of time. GTPCatz 06-20-2004, 08:14 PM what is your temp gauge reading? It is normal for the Rad. to spit back into the "overflow jug".....whats important here is your temps.... snowman4evr 06-22-2004, 10:04 PM what is your temp gauge reading? GTPCatz 06-22-2004, 10:25 PM No SES Light? Could be a problem with your low fan settings on the relay...but im only guessing.... snowman4evr 06-25-2004, 10:19 AM No SES. I did switch out the relays with one another and they seem to be fine. Iam going to try and check the sensor today that I beleive is responsible for cutting the fans on. The one right next to the gooseneck. kilroypr 06-27-2004, 12:21 PM Check your actual coolant temp when this behaviour is aparent. Because the fans are supposed to start at 210degf. If your engine is a lot hotter than that and they are not on then your engine temp sensor is nor working properly since they do start with the a/c. I think autozone have a heat gun to help you determine the engine temp when it's behaving like that, have them check it for you... snowman4evr 06-28-2004, 11:07 PM well just thought I would let you know that I did get the fans to start coming on, there was a loose connecter on the switch or sensor that cuts the fans on. And by the way that is a new sensor, but anywho there are not coming on until it gets right up to the red. Any ideas? thx will vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
