i have a cold air intake on my 96 gs and for some reason i have been getting oil blown back into my air filter !!! does anyone have any ideas about why it could be doing this . and also i am interested in targa topping my car can it be done and how ? any help would be great thanks

I'm sure it can be done but you'll lose the structural stiffness of you car which can cause many problems down the road such as body flex, poor cornering and rattles.
Now since there's an Eclipse droptop in this body style, the 2G might have been designed as a convertible from the beginning meaning that extra steps were taken by the engineers to keep the chassis stiff from the get go (like the C5 Vette).
Some car companies simply add a convertible later after the car was initialy designed so they add reinforments to the car's chassis to keep it stiff w/o a top.
I don't know if this is the case w/ the 2G DSM but someone else probably knows so post comments and correct me if I'm wrong.

cause of your valve cover breather is leaking oil into your intake.... the line that connects from your valve cover to your intake is probably lower than the valve cover so its dripping down into it! either get a catch can or get a breather filter!

Check you PCV valve and you could have blow by due to worn rings.
