Manual Tranny pops out of gearMikeyB_1 06-20-2004, 06:47 AM I have a 95 4runner with 85K miles and a 5-speed tranny. Lately it's been popping out of third gear, especially when it's cold. I noticed that the shifter doesn't seem to move all the way forward in 1st and especially 3rd gear. I heard that the shifter adjustment arms are inside the tranny and that it has to come out to be adjusted. Any thoughts? Thanks, Mike Tomsriv 06-20-2004, 02:39 PM Their are shift balls and detents inside the tranny that keep it from popping out of gear. They are probably worn or you might have a bad internal spring, etc. You will need to remove the tranny and have it repaired. It could cost a lot to repair due mainly to labor. If you remove the tranny yourself and take it to a shop it will save you a bundle. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
