Just installed an amp and sub in 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Tapped into power by factory amp. Just before attaching wires to amp, blew factory amp fuse in fuse pannel. Replaced fuse, but then the factory head unit acted like the car was shut off not running in aux(display blank, press in on vol knob for time). Checked all the fuses(three times), none bad. Then charged the battery, Stereo works again and the subs are on too. PROBLEM: Went to start the Jeep, it wont turn over. If i lay into the gas it will turn over but will stall as soon as I let off the gas. Un-hooked the Amp, Checked fuse boxes inside and under the hood. all fuses are good, relays? dont know how to check them. New to forum, but in a spot, would appreciate whatever help you can offer.

You need to reset the factory alarm. You do this by using the remote to lock and unlock the doors. Anytime the battery dies, you must do this. I hope this helps.

That is just your factory security fuction. When this happens just use your key to disarm it by putting it into your door and unlocking it.

I recommend running seperate heavy gauge amp kit back to your amp with it's own fuses. Also dont run your car for more then a minute without your car running. I am running an 800w rms amp to two Infinity perfect 10 subs and a 220rms 4 channel amp to my components. i also have a 2000w peak power inverter for my mp3/multimedia computer in my car. I had to buy a High Output Alternator, high performance battery, and a capacitor to keep my car running smoothly.
