gran prix stalling

have a 1997 gran prix,,,when driving down the road it up and quit,,,after a few minutes of trying to start it,,it did ignite
got home and killed again,,,,then would not ignite,,,turned ingnition switch but car seemed to be starving out.........got in it the next day and it was fine,,,,,,car does this off and on,,,,,,,very hard to go get it fixed when mechanic dont know what is wrong,,,,,,he thought at first it was the security system,,so he took it out,,,,then he thought it was the remote start,,,he also took that out,,,,,now we dont no what is wrong

depending on the mileage, i would definatly check the fuel pump. on 3800 series motor this is a common problem of 120K+ cars
