My 94 GC leaks water from the liftgate anytime it rains hard. Any thoughts? The rubber strip seems to be ok. The water appears to be entering right where the brake lights are...

jeffbeck,

I have a '94 JGC with a leak from the liftgate area also. It seems that water finds it way through and leaks from the vents at the top on the inside in the back. It has been doing it for a few years. It doesn't appear that it is leaking around the hinge area or the rubber. I have been letting it go as I don't even know where to start. Maybe someone else reading this thread may be able to help.

Check the rear washer nozzle on the liftgate. It might be loose and water enters from there into the brake light and then onto the floor of the trunk.

i'd re-mount the rubber strip if you can pull it off easily - it can look okay, but let water through if it rains hard enough (and it did for me when i lived in Florida!)...

I will try to remove it and re-mount it.
Would it be inexpensive to just purchase a new seal and mount it?
