Do it yourself brakes installation?

Alright, this is my first Jeep, and I have never done any work on any cars before, would it be wise for me to replace my own rotors/brake pads with the Haynes manual? Or should I just bite the bullet of paying about 350 (parts & labor) for a mechanic to do it?

DO IT YOURSELF! It is easier than you think. Just take your time have brake cleaner and lots of rags at the ready, use quality brake pads and not the cheap ones its one of the easiest things to do on a vehicle . just get past the fear of the unknown. and read your manual on this subject a few time before you perform the work youll do fine!

They are right, it is very sinple to change out pads and rotors.

I have 96 GC, they are extrememly easy. it only consists of taking off the wheel and removing two bolts

Just did mine on my '99 two weeks ago and it is a snap. Hardest part was knocking the rotors loose with rubber mallet. Once rotors were turned it took more time tightening lug nuts then it did for brake assy.

$350 = Paying someone
- $60 = Actual cost of doing it myself (in probably less time)
$290 that I can better spend elsewhere.
