I was wondering if any of you other guys have like very little use of there back brakes my pads are fine, calipers are working good, but just by looking at the rotors they look like they dont get used as much as I think they should, and my bro whose a mechanic in the navy) says thats not normal because his z28 doesnt do that. so Im here to find out.

I think its like a 70/30 split on how the brskes get used. I could be wrong, but Ive always been able to go every other brake change w/out touching the rears.

Also that is why the front rotor is so much bigger then the rear.

I understand that the rear breaks are used to lower speed and the front ones are the ones doing the real stopping. Depending on your driving conditions and roads is how they will behave. In my 98 GP and 93 Z034 alike if I work on the center of the island where I have hills, mountains and the like rear break will last less than the front breaks.
If I drive on highways then the front break will last less thant the rear ones and will behave exactly as the Ripn12s is telling you.

Actually, the Grand Prix is a 65% / 35% Front / Rear weight distribution car. (see http://www.new-cars.com/2002/pontiac/pontiac-grandprix-specifications.html)

Of all the cars that I've owned, driven and maintained, the rear brakes are typically subject to rust and corrosion causing problems rather than wear.

yeah 65/35 is the weight split when stopped and level but when you apply the brakes the weight spilt changes alot that is why the front brakes are used more than the rear. If any of you have noticed the emergency brake doesnt stop the car very well it actually slides when applied hard because it does not have enough weight over it to get traction. But dont get me wrong the rear brakes do help stop the car.
