I just bought a 1995 Geo Metro for $900, it has 89K miles and seems to run great, but my question is that I dont know the vehicle history and am wondering what I should look out for. The clutch seems good and I heard they go till around 125K, but I am not sure about the timing belt. What is an indicator it needs to be replaced, or should I just have it done to be safe. Also, anyone know good sites to buy cheap Geo parts, my car had an SUV back into it so I need to replace the hood, radiator mounts, and hood latch. I am also going to need to fix the drivers side window which comes off the track. Thanks!!

Get the parts at a local salvage yard. You can't ship a hood. The parts should be cheap. But if you can't find parts around, and if you don't mind driving it slightly rough looking, you can try to straighten the hood if its not a hard kink (its free to try, and easy). Unbolt it, lay it down pretty side down on a big rug on concrete. Step on it in the right places to bring it back into shape. Also, take off the radiator mounts and beat them back into shape with a hammer.

If you have time on your hands, change the timing belt. If not, drive it until it breaks, then change it. Same with the clutch, drive it until it slips, it could be good for years.
