93 Jeep GCL 135777 miles:

O.K. this time im the victim. Last night on my way to work the fuel low lite was on but im reletively confident that there was plenty of fuel. I had just started up this grade when the car started to shutter like turn off an then come back. I firgured i was running out of gas. and headed for the nearest texico. I filled the tank and it took 22 gallons to fill. ive put 23.5 in it before. the car started right up and when i got to the street to take off it hicupped then took off, i figured it was just air in the line and burped thru the injectors. It ran very good to work 12 miles, then it ran very good to a fast food restaurant but on the way home this morning it started acting up again, like it was being turned off or even trying to turn backward, the engine died once on the way home in a 40 mph zone.

I have ordered a Crank sensor, but i dont know if it has the cam sensor that I have read about in these forums, it wasnt available from the site i use for my parts. Unless this cam sensor is actually the distributor pick up.

up date: this whole thing was caused be the coil just so you dont have to read the whole thing!
thanks.

Ok its fixed, the 5.2 V8 doesnt have a cam sensor, it has a regular distributor pick up that shares the signal. Man what a pain in the butt to get to the distibutor. make sure you map out the firing order and find #1 before pulling the cap. the bolts on the cap are 7mm or a #1 philips. firing order is located on the manifold right behind the air compressor. number one cylender is located on the drivers side front. number #2 is located on the passenger side front. the drstibutor rotates clockwise starting with 1 at the 8 oclock position, firing 18436572

...........................................D
........4........3...................8........7
.....8................6..............6........5
.....^......C.......................4........3
.....1................5..............2........1
..........2......7
............front......................front

Remove the plug wires from the distributor cap then the mounting screws then the rotor then the pick up plug then the pick up will lift out. positon the new one with the sensors down and line up the round and square tabs on the distibutor, replace the cap and wires.

was it hot when you did it, man my hands hurt lol
