My 1989 Buick RegalXxPurpleHazexX 06-14-2004, 02:04 PM First off, Let me say hi to everybody here. Seems like a nice community. Secondary, let me introduce my problem. I own a White 1989 Buick Regal GS, v6 3.1. 92,000 Original Miles on it. A couple years back I was smashed while sitting at a light, so the rear of my car has some considerable damage. I love my car, love the way it handles and everything else about it. A new rear end, Bumper down, would be what I am looking for. I am slowly repairing my engine and will be continueing trying to fix it up. As I stated I am in love with my car, I want to make it more powerful and look nice. I have alot of minor body work that needs to be done. Mainly I want to fix the rear though. As far as I have been told/can tell, the rear does need to be replaced, there is no fixxen it. So I am actualy looking for something of an after factory rear end. Not import-fart-pipen rear end thou. I am a fan of older muscel cars and want something that looks tough. My on-line searches and body shop searchs have uncovered nothing to me. I don't have alot of cash to spill into this project. I will run the wheels off this car wether it looks nice or not. IF anyone has any customization specs or advice on rear end that would be nice. Also if anyone knows how to get more power and speed without costing much, from a frontwheel drive 3.1 v6, Buick Regal, please let me know. Thanks again! potlicker 03-24-2005, 01:05 PM First off, Let me say hi to everybody here. Seems like a nice community. Secondary, let me introduce my problem. I did not think they sold the 3.1 in the 89, i was under the impression that the 2.8 was the main enjine for that model year. PFJ5K 03-25-2005, 11:38 AM I did not think they sold the 3.1 in the 89, i was under the impression that the 2.8 was the main enjine for that model year. The 2.8 was the only engine available in 88, in 89 you could also get an optional 3.1. In 1990 the 3.1 became standard and you could get an optional 3.8. There are several companies that make aftermarket bumpers and body kits for this car (Erebuni, Razzi, and I think there is a third company that I can't remember) but they are all over priced and look like crap in my opinion. http://www.razzi.com/vehicles/buick/regal_8890_2dr_1028.html http://www.erebunicorp.com/clearance/buregal.htm I have considered installing the rear bumper off a grand prix se on my car. It extends lower in the back so it hides the spare tire well and has rectangular cutouts for dual exhaust which look very cool. http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/3/web/411000-411999/411397_4_full.jpg http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/3/web/411000-411999/411397_5_full.jpg I have heard that the body pannels for all of the w body cars are interchangeable in that the mounting points are in the same locations, so a gp bumper should fit on a regal. You will probably have to trim and fill some of the gaps to get it to look right. The regal also has the license plate between the tail lights while the gp has it in the bumper, so you will have to fill in the gp license plate holder. If you paint it like the one in the picture with a red trim stripe it will probably match very well with the black and red trim on a regal gs. You can probably pick up all of the parts you need at an auto salvage yard for relatively little money. Also if anyone knows how to get more power and speed without costing much, from a frontwheel drive 3.1 v6, Buick Regal, please let me know. Thanks again! The cheapest and simplest would be a better exhaust and intake, but they probably won't make your car much faster. Pontiac did make a turbo grand prix in 89 and 90 using the 3.1 engine. If you can find the manifold, computer, and other related parts they will bolt right on to your regal. These cars did come with a heavy duty transmission and you'll want to upgrade your trans before running a turbo and that's where things start to get very expensive. 93rgeal87gn 12-01-2005, 09:43 PM more cheap speed! well before i took my 3800 out for a supercharged 1 i did this to my stock engine... cold air intake, high flow exhaust, msd coils wires, ngk spark plugs, 93 octane fuel and dam what a difference! o my old engine is in my room clean and painted with a glass top! i made it into a table but sumday ill have a car for it again! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
