okay my driver's door lock will not go in the down (ie LOCKED) position if the door is opened. i have to close my driver's side door, reach in through the back door, and hit the lock button. hoping someone could shed some light maybe before i sit there taking apart the door blindly. thanks

That's the way it's designed to work. It's to (attempt to) stop you locking your keys inside.

Your choices are (a) override the interlock by holding the OUTSIDE door handle open while you press the lock down (b) do it the way you've been doing it (c) lock it with your key (the driver's side door locks all the doors when locked from the outside with aq key).

Maybe so, but all 3 of the Accords I've owned ('90, '93 and another '93) worked that way (and it's in line with numerous other models of cars that also try to prevent you accidentally locking the keys inside.)

The doors must be unlocked before you can open them. The passenger doors can be locked when open, and will stay locked when you close them; the driver's door cannot be locked when open unless you hold the handle open. The front doors can be locked and unlocked from the outside with a key"

my remote for the alarm broke about a week ago, so i've just been hitting the lock button. the other day i pushed the lock button, and noticed the lock popped back up, thought it broke. guess that means it's been doing that for days before i noticed, meaning my car has been left unlocked. thanks for info
