I have a bmw 323ci and am having an on-board computer problem...Most of the time, nothing works on my steering wheel controls (i.e. radio volume, cruise control, and horn), but occasionally, it will work when it wants to. It has to be some kind of electrical issue. The back brake lights stay on (and the rear light indicator lights are on my diagnostics window) all of the time when this happens. Also, if I pull down my shade and open the mirror, it sets something off sometimes and everything turns back on..Please help! Thanks!

I also forgot to mention that my seatbelt and airbag lights come on and stay on randomly....I took it to a bmw mechanic and they could not help...

i don't understand why a 'BMW' 'mechanic' could help. What's he/she do for a living then....anyway it sound like your problem is in the top of the steering column. there's a contact ring unit that the wheel controls and AirBag connections go through. have SOMEELSE! check the SRS code because it soounds like all of your problems may be related.
