I have a 1989 dodge dynasty 3.0 auto w/overdrive.. I changed the tranny and it wont shif out of 2nd...Oh it does get reverse...The tranny shop told me there is some electrical problem somewhere.
the following codes were showing

39- gear ratio error
15- etax relay output always off

Not sure exactly what could be causing that, but I did find a page that has information about those ETAX codes for you.

http://www.robskorner.freehomepage.com/faqs/Trans/A604codes.html

I'll see if I can dig up more about it for you.

Just a thought:

bad solenoid pack. Put your old one in it?

use only ATF+3 fluid, or you'll be very sorry.

I am sure the fools that put the tranny in put the regular atf in. I heard that there is an additive that can be put in. What does the regular fluid do hard shifts or what........I really want to get rid of the car once its fixed

Don't use additives,
They don't work, actually they worsen the condition.
use ATF+3 as the only fluid, it doesn't cost any more than dexron (deathxron).

Dexron is poison to all chrysler FWD transmissions. Just a half pint will cause serious and destructive problems.

I'm not a hydraulic Engineer, so I can't tell you what the difference is between the fluid, but I can tell you that Dexron=Death to the trans.

The trans is stuck in 'fault mode'....I'm willing to bet it's something that isn't jiving electroniclly...I have been told that only certain year trannys are compatible with certain year vehicles.. May have to have a tech put a computer on it if you don't know the year of the tranny. Hope this helps.
