Hey guys...I was wondering what yall think of flame throwers. I've heard of cars throwing flames with out them, just because of their turbo setups, but I don't think thatour cars can do that. So I'm thinking about getting a flame thrower. How do they work?

IMO flame throwers are ricey....they sell kit to do that...it's a sparkplug that was moutned in the exhaust system....and when the exhaust goes trough the sparkplug ignite and voila

on siiick hot rods, those kinda things are cool, but if I knew you personally and put that on your MX3, i would probably kick your ass... lol Dont waste your money, spend money to make your car fast, not just look fast.

If you want to get one, get one. Do it for your own style. Babybluemx3, you of all people shouldnt call other peoples style rice, I looked at your car. If that flame thrower kit is what you want, go for it.

IMO, babyblues car is far from rice. He has the beef to back up the look... Now, if he had an automatic 4 cyl with all that stuff on it, then I might say otherwise.

He did a good job on his car dude, everything is done down to the last detail.

from what I've seen... the term Rice, is mainly used for FF I-4 cars, most people I know, and my own exprence, what most people call "Rice Rockets" are FF I-4 cars.. orignally it was for a Japanese car term... but the Caviler, and Focus, and Sunfire all fit under that term. V-6, V-8 and Rotary engined cars aren't typically considered "Rice Rockets". the term came from the early 90's late 80's Japanese cars where they were a small car (usually FF) with a small engine (I-4) , having been heavially modded to create big power... Which usually produces a Pissed off weedwaker sound... IMO

IMO... rice is not a specific kind of car, I have seen ricy V8 Camaros. Rice are things like this: fake BOV (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7905031319&category=33742)

Rice is more or less an attitude, like seeing a guy who races everyone at the red-lights with his completely stock 1988 Honda Civic HB with 100 Stickers holding on the rust. A perfect example of a riced out car (If you're ever in the Gatineau, Quebec region, you can't miss them), is a Chevy Cavalier with Blue flames running up the sides of the car, fake air dams on the hood (not to mention that they are not even moulded to the car), "Down Shift" stickers accross the front windshield and last but not least, "Chrome" hub-caps. All that cost this guy almost a thousand bucks and his car is still as slow as it was before. AND it doesnt even look good. Not necessarily is a car rice because it has a bodykit and rims, maybe the guy/girl wants his car too look good, an couldnt care about performance.

you my friend, are an idiot. So spark plugs, oil filters etc from Pep Boys or Autozone are rice... Im glad I dont live in the states then. go Canadian Tire!

Secondly, what is wrong with a painted interior? Are the walls in your house painted? Dont be ignorant.

Thirdly, what is wrong with a bodykit with no aerodynamic purposes, unless you drive a Bonneville flats drag car, you dont need downforce on the road. A bodykit simply improves the look of your car. Like it or not, the bookshelf on your trunk is just slowing you down.

Obviously some things from pepboys arent rice, like oil. Also, im talking about when someone has a green RX7 and they paint their interior plastic bright blue. Also, most good bodykits serve a purpose. Go to TakaKaira.co.jp, and look at the NSX body kits, RE amemiya kit for the rx7, and a few others. Its not about having aerodynamics on the salt flats, but also highway racing, and track racing. When you say that you dont need downforce on the road, that is just plain stupid. Aerodynamics is vital to a cars performance. If this is true, why do the cars in the JGTC have body kits, looks? You dont see any JGTC cars with BLITZ, or black widow body kits, right? What the hell were you saying about the bookshelf on my trunk, are you that stupid. Dont jump around calling other people ignorant :banghead: when you dont know what the hell you are talking about.

bmwm3guy
06-11-2004, 05:08 PM
i do know what Im talking about, but thanks for coming out. Do you race your 1990 RX-7 in the JGTC? You're cars performance by adding a body kit on it would not make much, if any of a difference. Those cars race at Top speeds that you and I dream of hitting, and they do this for a living. I know that when I buy a body kit for my car, it is going to be completely esthetically chosen. And I know I am not alone on that one.

Painting an interior plastic bright blue, then yes, it is getting on the ricey side, but I have painted my interior white and black (for now) and it IMO it looks good. you had wrote that painting interiors in general was rice. Thats why i commented, just a simple mis-understanding

Now when I say the bookshelf on your trunk.. i dont mean YOUR trunk, I meant that in general to the ricer boys out there who have those aluminium spoilers on their FWD cars that serve no purpose, and look like I something I shit out this morning. Judging by your hate for rice, I wouldve guessed you dont have one because they are ugly as ass.

HighwayRacer

I dont hate rice. I dont like it, but everyone has their own style. I just hate when ricers call other people ricers.

PS-I go over 150mph on nearly all my races (safely)

bmwm3guy

people call othr people ricers 99% of the time because they are insecure about their car and think that the person they are insulting is superior to them. I just call people ricers when their car looks like ass and they obviously dont know the first thing about performance and esthetics. Buying a "Down Shift" Sticker does nothing but make your car look like ass IMHO... an thats what i meant.

PS- besides, I never called anyones car rice... You did, so what are YOU talking about? :screwy:
Babybluemx3, you of all people shouldnt call other peoples style rice, I looked at your car.

Babyblue was simply saying Flame Throwers in general look ricey to him, that is his opinion, and I happen to agree 200%. This is a public Forum and people can say what they want without ignorant people taking cracks at someones car instead of sharing your opinion on the topic.

anyways..this as all started when I said flame throwers looked ricey...and you calling me ricey

to me Rice is more of a sound

Ricy I-4s
Winding V-6s , Rotary
Throaty V-8s,10s, and 12s

most of these engines sound like this... yes everyone has their own style, I have Latin friends who have useless hood scoops, but it looks good... and I know a guy with a Baretta with a Alumnum spoiler.. they look good on the respected cars... part modding cars is all about style... the probelm is when it's really tacky... and "Ricers" normally have that tackey setup, with their "Fruit Shooter" Exhaust as my friend calls them.... there is alot of factors... the thing with cars is Balance! I guess this is why I'm a Mazda guy.... I like the Toyota MR2, Honda S2000 and Honda NSX.... all these cars are about balance... but that's a whole nother subject entirely.. lol, but Deffinately I'm in the V-6 / Rotary Preference... for engines...

bmwm3guy

I'm in the V-6 Rotary Preference... for engines...

:sly: v6 rotary? anyways prolly just a typo but i thought it was funny. :evillol: I agree with you too, partly modded cars are often the worst, because people dont buy things in the right order for it to look good. Like buying a bodykit, installing it, and then waiting 2 years to paint it. Stuff like that.

lone_night_fox
06-14-2004, 02:12 PM
it was... it was ment to be V-6 / Rotary.... not one engine type.. but some people do put the Rotary into the V-6 catagory.... cause it has 6 combustion chaimbers same with a V-6, and I-6 (also a fav), but really the rotary has a displacement better than a I-4 and as many power strokes as a V-12... got to love the Rotary engine!

has anybody seen that vid of a guy standing next to his mustang at a show? His car has a GTR sticker and some chinese writing on it, so the camera guys go over and start talking to him about his car. They get him to say that he has the rotary in it, and also gets him to admit that GTR was a special version of the mustang...it's soooo funny, if any one has that vid, can you please post it, I can't find it!

rice is basically all show no go. make your car look fast but not be fast. imho babyblue's car looks ricey, but i know he's got serious power under the hood. if i saw his car on the street driving by i'd probably think he was a rice boy, but i know he's got some bad ass shit goin' on under the hood.

you cant really judge someone and say weather or not their car is rice unless you can find out whats under the hood. but in most cases it's safe to assume that the honda the kid from down the street drives...you know the one w/the fart can, neons, wing, etc. is probably rice!

mx3man

what about hub caps with spinners? or flame-throwing kits on anything with less than 8 cylinders? or the best of all.... *cue drum roll* fake BOV's... no matter how fast your car is, if you have any of those on your car you should be shot...

firefly948
09-08-2004, 09:40 PM
like mister green eclipse I posted about! I hate those hubcap spinners. I hate hubcaps period...but if they're your style...go for it. I'm not gonna stop you. I might laugh, but I'll respect your preference.

Fake BOVs are a different story though. There is no excuse to own one of those! Or those fake blowers! I saw an ad on ebay for a hood scoop designed to look like a blower. It had a pic of a civic with it bolted on. From a distance it looked real...Until you made the realized that Hondas don't go with blowers....They are on opposite sides of the Thesaurus!
