2001 Intrigue tranny question

I just purchased a 2001 Intrigue GL with 28,000 miles on it. Of course I am reading about the tranny problems after I bought the car. At this time the car is flawless. It runs great and the tranny shifts very nicley. Does any one think that changing the tranny fluid with Mobil ATV Synthetic every 30,000 miles will help extend its life? I live in Tucson and the summers here are pretty hard on cars (Over 100 most of the time). Anyone also try an aftermarket tranny cooler?

Thanks,
Sean

I had the transmission on my 2001 replaced about 4 months ago, nearly 3 years to the DAY after I bought the darn thing (~42,000 miles). For several months the transmission would lag shifting into first when I start the car in the morning. Sometimes it would "slam!" into gear so hard it felt like it was "dropping the clutch." I took it into the dealer twice, and they were unable to diagnose a problem. No trouble codes, could not duplicate the behavior on a test drive. The second time I took it in I suggested they keep it overnight and drive it in the morning. Still no go.
Several weeks later, while driveing (coasting) down a hill the transmission slammed! on a upshift (the car was accelerating downhill without my pressing the gas pedal) and I decided thats it - I'm having them take the darn thing apart and figure out whats wrong.
The tranny died the next morning-on my way to work. The transmission was a warranty repair (got the extended 5/60) but I was without my wheels for a week while they fixed it.
And I had a tranmission cooler installed by U-Haul (as well as hitch/electrical) within a week of purchasing the car. I also have the same dealer do all the required maintenace (even the 30,000 mile checkup - cost me a few bills)

I like the car - It handles nicely, but I'm beginning to doubt the long term prospects of this car.

Other problems -
Alternator replaced - annoying VR resets, not completely cured
Turn Signal replaced - aparrently the flasher circuit is integral to the switch. Signal would come on and would not flash. sometimes was able to "kick start" the flasher by pressing the hazard light button.
