Big DreamsVanished 06-06-2004, 11:41 PM OK. So i'm only 15, but i've been dreaming like mad about cars, and i'm getting pretty seriouse . I've narrowed down my disision of a car to an mx-3. I found one in quebec for 2000 (amazing i know) but i think its too good to be true. http://www.canadatrader.com/trader/result/result.asp?r=%271011%27&mk=MAZDA&md=MX-3&yfr=0&yto=0&GoSearch=Search&kw=&kfr=0&kto=0&pfr=0&pto=0&dm=1&dp=4&or=0&oby=7&IsSr=1&rubno=4000&sid=&ste=&task= I've also narrowed down my first mod to the car, egine swapping it to a KL-ZE. Are my dreams out of porportion, or are they totatly possible? If anybody could give me any feed back that would be asome firefly948 06-07-2004, 02:43 PM They are possible. 2000 for a car is really good. I got mine for 1800usd. The KLZE is definitely a good choice, as well as a relatively affordable one. It'll boost your hp by 65 hp, and gives you a better platform for other mods. as far as that car being too good to be true, I tried the link, but I don't know which one you're looking at. 2000 for a MX3 is pretty good Is is V6 or 4cyl. Vanished 06-07-2004, 06:49 PM Ok, well i'm planning on getting a V6 so i can enjoy the car some before i put the engine in. I've found an egine for 1150$ canadian at http://www.jspecautosports.com/jas/html/mazda.html. Around how much would it cost me to have it installed, and for extra parts i would need? bmwm3guy 06-07-2004, 07:51 PM A basic KLZE swap will put you out around 2500$ for parts, engine, and installation. Depending on how much u pay for an install, some people will do it for around 500-700$. A clutch for the 2.5L is around 400$, and you may as well change the timing belt, water pump if needed, spark plugs, ignition wires etc.. what area are you in? my msn is gr8ride4u@hotmail.com if u want any answers MX-Master 06-07-2004, 09:23 PM do u neeeed a new clutch bc ive never heard that before and if u do then crap bc i dont have the money for that now and im in the middle of my swap bmwm3guy 06-07-2004, 11:00 PM I dont know for sure, but from what I see, the 1.8 clutch and the 2.5 clutch are different. Plus, maybe its me but a K8 stock clutch would turn to mush with 200hp or more running through it. Vanished 06-07-2004, 11:41 PM ok, well if you could email me a list of parts that i would most defantly need for a well used mx-3, (after a swap) that would be good. I'm planning on getting a performance clutch, spark plugs and ignition wires anyway. Thanks for the help, and keep it comming. I'm in saskatoon, so if your around the area and your planning a swap, give me some info on were your getting the swap done, and were your getting your parts from. bmwm3guy 06-08-2004, 01:19 PM Im from the Ottawa area so we're kinda far away :P this is my shopping list for my swap if it helps. KLZE Clutch Centerforce Dual Friction Tranny from a Probe GT ECU KL-31, KL-36 - 400$ Vaf JE50 (this is the on you have on your K8 right now, so keep it) Clutch bearing Oil filter Spark plugs motor oil Transmission oil coolant timing belt **Not necessary, but a good idea none-the-less** Brembo front cross drilled, and slotted rotors KYB GR-2 Shocks Eibach Springs Fuel-pressure regulator Air/fual ratio guage lightweight pullies headers? maybe if I can find some true "bolt-on" ones. I mightve forgotten a few things but i think its all there. MXmadman 06-08-2004, 01:56 PM Vanished 06-08-2004, 05:40 PM hey man, thats cool ur in ottawa. Thanks for the list that helps alot! How much is the tranny and were do you get clutch bearings from? Vanished 06-08-2004, 05:44 PM Oh yah, if i were shopping for mods for the KL-ZE what car would i buy the parts for, mx-6 or probe or just mx-3? bmwm3guy 06-08-2004, 07:24 PM depends on the part, but most likely mx6 or probe when it comes to the engine. The clutch bearing goes for around 60-70$ i think. I got mine from www.street-import.com Vanished 06-09-2004, 06:40 PM Thanks! babybluemx3 06-09-2004, 10:42 PM normally the clutch comes in a "kit" including...pressure plate...disc...realease bearing....pilot bearing (not sure about that one)..and alignement tool....jsut make sure if you buy a clutch that these parts come with it Vanished 06-09-2004, 11:51 PM Ok cool, now i need to go get a job quickly so i can buy the darn car! lone_night_fox 06-10-2004, 07:59 PM I found one in quebec for 2000 (amazing i know) but i think its too good to be true. [ I got my MX-3 V-6 for 2,400 USD and it only had 93,000 miles... so depending on mileage... it should be a pretty good deal... Vanished 06-12-2004, 10:25 PM Wow, thats cool. I dunno about somethin though, i was looking in saskatchewan and the cheapest if under 5k-over 4k. Is there a reason for that? I'm trying to get the cheapest possible, maybe even one that has a really really really bad motor and trans. If you know of any sites that have adds of used cars in canada that would be awsome. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
