98 Grand Caravan A\C Squeals!!Timothee 06-05-2004, 08:37 PM :banghead: My 98 Grand Caravan with 114k miles squealed whenever I turned the A\C on. The noise stopped but the belt was gone so I replaced it, no noise but the next day it started again now that belt has burned off. I looked at the compressor while it squealed and noticed that it stops spinning for a second then starts again. Any advice will be greatly aprreciated. seniorbigs 06-06-2004, 11:27 PM If it is the 3.0, the belt needs to be tight. I've seen a bunch with belts that felt tight but just were not tight enough. slantsixness 06-07-2004, 07:18 AM use a best available quality new belt, and yes, it has to be adjusted, DAMN tight! Word to the wise: Dont turn your A/C on under acceleration. let off the gas and then hit the button, or turn the defroster on. It'll stop that cat-dying sound! Timothee 06-09-2004, 09:31 AM Thanks guys I appreciate it. It's a 15mm on the side & a 13mm on top correct & do you recomend power tools. :p slantsixness 06-09-2004, 10:49 AM just wrenches will do the trick, you don't need power tools. You may need a pipe or extension bar to hold the tensioner out. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
