recently my dad's 97 civic dx 1.6 sohc non vtec (5-speed) has been getting very poor gas milage and has been running very lean, its a regular unmodified daily driver, someone told said its the pcm, but it seems like the cams are out of wack, anyone know anything about this problem please respond

Lean = more milage? I wish my car ran lean. If your car was running rich like mine, THEN you'd be getting shitty milage. VERY shitty milage. There are many things that can lead to that though. Any other problems?

first thing that poped into my head was o2 sensor, very commen problem with the 96-2000 civic. i swear i see alteast 1 o2 sensor for a ek once a day at work. but it should put out a code if that the problem so we gotta check that first.
