I have been thinking about getting a 3.4" pulley for my supercharger but with high gas prices I was curious what that would do to the fuel economy, if anything?

i didnt notice anything with my fuel economy changing other than having a lead foot for about 2 months. so yeah it went down but not really because of the pulley. BIG change in power

Yeah, your economy will go down in the first couple weeks only because you will be jabbing the throttle all the time to enjoy the new torque gain. Our supercharger has a bypass that is opened on the highway at cruising rpms which turns our boosted engines into 8:5\1 compression ratio economachines. I've seen zero decrease in fuel economy with a 3.4 or a 3.25 as long as I'm just cruising along. Cold air intakes, headers, and exhaust systems will actually help with mpg, or at least this has been my experience. I've seen a best of 31 mpg cruising @70 so far. The more extensive modifications will start chipping away at mpg.

I hear ya on the gas prices.
I've had a 3.4" on mine for about a year and a half. Theseguys are right, your mileage will go down at first from you stomping the gas.....combine that with a CAI or FWI and your mileage will be horrible. Wrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...........
So, the new is worn off and I have been averaging 20mpg from the last 10 or so tanks. My drive consists of about 50/50 highway/city.

yeah your gas milage will go down, but your speed will go up. And in the end thats matters. seriously though, its a horsepower increase, like any other. If you want performance, you gotta pay the price. A new pulley is a great way to get that performance, thougth, for like 65 bucks, a 3" pulley can bring more than 35 horses to youre ride. no joke. You could, thought, meet performance half way and get like a 3.4" pulley, tht would only bring you up a little more than 25hp

I am getting 20 mpg on a 3.25 pulley....and I was getting about the same with a 3.0 Pulley
dropping Pulley size wont effect the gas as much as you would think
