brakes convertion!! ?peterie 06-03-2004, 03:07 PM Hi, I have a 97 civic dx coupe and I won to convert my rear drums to disk brakes. How can I do that and what parts do I need to bye, or maybe take is of from other car like accord. Thanks. jcrx 06-03-2004, 04:06 PM You have two options, you can replace the whole trailing arm, or just the rear spindles. For the complete trailing arm swap, you can use the arms off any 92-00 rear disc Civic, or 94+ Integra. The pro is, it is easier, and it you use the ITR/CTR/GSR, you can get some stiffer bushings. The con is, it is heavy if you get it online, so shipping is pricey, and you have to get an alignment immediately. Or you can use the spindles from any 88-00 Civic, or 94+ integra. The pro: you don't have to align, it is lighter to ship. Thecon: You have to remove the torx bolts that hold it on, and they tend to strip real easy, so you can run into major issues removing them this way. There are a few small quirks along the way, such as proper ebrake cables, which LCAs fit with what, etc... No matter what you want to replace, or at least turn the rotors, and get new pads, and you have to get new brakelines, and ebrake cables. madmaxEKhatchB18C5 06-03-2004, 08:03 PM jcrx....thanks for the trailing arm swap specs...i have been thinking about this lately, but unsure as to what fit what...do you think you could pull these easily from a junkyard (assuming there was a civic EX or Si with four intact rotor/trailing arms?... good post...thanks, mc jcrx 06-04-2004, 12:05 AM You can pull them at a yard, but easily wouldn't be how I discribe it. Some of the bolts are not mean to be removed easily, so it is tough. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
