cv axle noiseianferron 06-02-2004, 08:18 AM I got a 94" civic hatchback cx with a d16z6 (si engine and transmission) and I got a knocking sound when I turn left (just a little bit) and accelerating. I try two rebuilt cv shaft from Fenco and one Brand new and I still hear the knocking. Is the cv axle the same for a CX and a SI , the company told me yes. Is that possible if that noise is coming from another part? -=BOOMER=- 06-02-2004, 02:13 PM If you have replaced the cv then I wouldnt think it could be that. I just replaced the whole axle this weekend for my CV being bad. took me 4 hours with tools. If your still geting the noise and its been replaced I would think that it has to be another part. IF you just replaced the boot it could be that the CV joint is actualy damaged and needs replacement. Beastiek2 06-02-2004, 02:35 PM probably need new axle if boot dosnt fix problem i had to replace it on my 89 hatch i hate that noice when turning ianferron 06-02-2004, 09:14 PM If you have replaced the cv then I wouldnt think it could be that. I drop my car about 3 inch 3 month ago and I was hearing the noise before but now it's more noisy. On the highway when I go straith and accelerating I hear the noise and when I turn left the noise is worst. Before I drop my car I was hearing the noise only when I turn left and accelerating, but now when I go straith I hear it. snowman2005 06-02-2004, 10:08 PM pull back on the rubber things on the joints and check if theres grease, if the joint is greased up good and check for damage jcrx 06-03-2004, 03:35 AM Did you take out the ring off the outter joint? If you got the motor from a Si it probably had ABS, and there is a plastic ring on the outside of the axles, this causes it not to sit right in the CX (which didn't have ABS) knuckle. jameskersten 06-03-2004, 10:04 AM If you have replaced the cv then I wouldnt think it could be that.
