i am wanting to put the fuel injection from the 2.2l turbo out of shelby z in my 88 . i have already swappped the interior it worked fine all plugs where there to just swap the interior harness over doors and all, hatch everything works. i forgot to pull the wiring harness at the time i had the car because i thought it was going to be too much at the time to do the swap but now i'm really considering it. the other motor was the 2.2l and i just want to swap everythng over from it except for the block and pistons etc. just the fuel injector rail and intake to get the fuel injection but not sure if i have to have the turbo or not i'd kinda like it on there but don't want to put that much work in it.. i know the whole front engine harness has to be changed because of the computer but not sure about the under dash. from what i looked at it looks like just the engine harness has to be swapped because of the logic module under the kick panel in the passenger side. it looks like the wires just run across but just wanted to be sure. but now i've got to find parts or just buy a junk one from the yard.. any ideas. or help thx..

you need the engine harness and the computer from the '87 turbo car.
It would be better to put the turbo in, too but you'll need to adapt the 2.5 for the oiling lines.
It's really not that hard.

But why give up on the 2.2? The stock 2.5 won't hold up as well without modification.

i'm kinda thinking about finding a 2.2 with everything all on it and just go from there and get rid of the 2.5 after thinking about it it would be a little more work since all i would have to do is put it in and change the harness i guess. but will i need to change the underdash harness or just the engine bay harness and ecu and put the logic module in? i'm not sure on that one. from reading some others i guess the 2.2 would be a stronger and better motor but i also like the fact that i'ts injected and not tbi. but i'm kinda looking for the whole car thats in fair shape but one of the 86 style that has the solid headlights and not popups. if anybody knows where i can find one.. preferrably with t-tops.. mine has sunroof be a little less work involved.. just do some minor body work , paint etc. and engine work and be done. if anybody knows where i can find a decent one either out of j yard or somebody selling. please let me know. thx...

Just the engine harness and the computer, although there is a difference between '87 and '88 so, you may have to swap the whole harness back to the bulkhead connector, but maybe not!

'87 and '88 was the difference between carburation and fuel injection right? My Turismo is an '84, and the computer I had to replace came from a Daytona, I'm not sure what year it was, but it was late 80's anyway, but the car ran just the same as it did before...

'87 was EFI in the turbo, TBI in non turbo.
'84 was the first FI 2.2.... I think is was first on the laser (chrysler 'daytona", not the DSM laser...)

My Turismo has a Holley 2 barrel carb on it. It's fast for a 2.2 auto, it's pretty cool...

PM me and I'll give you some sources to look up everything you ever wanted to know (and a few things you didn't) about turbo dodges.....

i've noticed that i'll have to swap the harness to the bulkhead connector because the 2 are different , even the computers are different with the turbo FI having the logic module theres an extra set of wires looks like going to the computer for it. still working on it tho.. right now i'm just looking for another body with motor in it to do the swap, will be much easier to do with it all in front of me......thx.

Sounds like quite the project. I agree that the 2.2 is more durable than the 2.5 for the turbo. Just need a few parts changed in the motor for that. My first car was an 86 Omni and that where I got my first speeding ticket of 78 in a 55. What can I say? I was young and dumb, and didn't look out for cops!
