Woah, i say toast! Unless his final drive ratio is really MASSIVE. My car made that noise some time ago.... next thing i knew my gears broke. I was running on a very large final drive ratio.

I drive a GTR for a daily driver, but I have the stock tranny, so mine sounds nothing like the one in the Video.

The tranny in that GTR is a HKS 6speed Dog Box, and yes I can asure you that it is normal. If he would shift a little faster, it would be a lot smoother.

Here is a quote from the owner of the car;

I have seen 2 other HKS 6 speeds, and they crunched as well. It seems common to me at least.

Oh goodness! That's actually good news! It'd be painful to have a toasted tranny on that car. Phew!
Time to work on those gear shifts then!

I do admit, that the tranny sounds like there is something wrong with it. I guess you learn something new every day.

yep the trany is usless but reving up that skyline was pointless :screwy:

he did shift kinda slow...really slow actually...i dont even shift that slow when i'm drivin normally...i got a maxima...but still...and when i race...i shift like really fast...which is what he should have been doin when showin off the car...not shiftin slow like that...

it really looks like he is, maybe he's shifting slow b/c he's just learning how to drive. i always thought that all Gt-r's were awd, learn somthing new everyday

if he's just learning how to drive...why is he makin a video of how fast the car is?? lol even if he's just learnin...if ur showin off the car you can still shift fast...but thats my opinion...

The tranny is an HKS 6-speed tranny, yes it's supposed to sound like that, they are called dogmission trannies. They have straight cut gears, like reverse in mere mortals cars, so they make a very distinctive crunch/whine or whatever you want to call it. There is nothing he can do to prevent the sound. Very sweet car though!

He wasn't really trying to show off top speed because on the last run, he wasn't pushing the car at all, just cruising on 6th.

Is it just me, or is he using his right foot for clutching??

Even syncholess transmissions aren't supposed to sound as horrible as that. The dude doesn't look like he knows what he's doing.
