"Where's first....crunch!...yeah there it is." pro3racer 06-02-2004, 07:54 AM i've seen that one before, i never knew saudi's liked import(well, japan) cars? Skyline_R32_Canada 07-05-2004, 12:49 PM :repost: catback23 07-12-2004, 07:35 PM That trannys not toast Just saw the video ya that tranny is toast "Granny shifting, not double clutchin' like you should"...That says it all, syncros are gone, he should be double clutchin NewKid 98Civic 09-07-2004, 10:00 PM About how much would it take to put together a Non-Nitrous 600+ HP GT-R 34 Skyline SkylineUSA 10-19-2004, 04:34 PM The tranny is not toast, that is suppose to make that noise, trust me! SabreKhan 10-19-2004, 06:18 PM That horrible metal-on-metal crunching noise?!? No, I assure you, it's not supposed to do that. I've driven the Skyline in Japan. Didn't do that. Also, is that guy wearing a gi in the video? Mtang36 10-20-2004, 03:54 PM Woah, i say toast! Unless his final drive ratio is really MASSIVE. My car made that noise some time ago.... next thing i knew my gears broke. I was running on a very large final drive ratio. billclinton 10-20-2004, 04:40 PM im not gonna download the vid, but i think i know what the vid is. i think the video is to show the syncroless transmission 2of9 10-20-2004, 07:45 PM god.....that hurted me ears....damn that driver...DAMN HIM!!! why ruin such a sky like that....(unless you are that rich) GTR_driver 10-24-2004, 03:05 AM That horrible metal-on-metal crunching noise?!? No, I assure you, it's not supposed to do that. I've driven the Skyline in Japan. Didn't do that. Also, is that guy wearing a gi in the video? I drive a GTR for a daily driver, but I have the stock tranny, so mine sounds nothing like the one in the Video. The tranny in that GTR is a HKS 6speed Dog Box, and yes I can asure you that it is normal. If he would shift a little faster, it would be a lot smoother. Here is a quote from the owner of the car; Question posed to the owner; ...what's with the crunching sound when changing gears? Owner's reply; "Thats normal sound for HKS gearbox !" __________________ TOP RPM Life Begines at 20 Pounds of BOOST I have seen 2 other HKS 6 speeds, and they crunched as well. It seems common to me at least. GTR_driver 10-24-2004, 04:17 AM Oh ya, here is the specs on the R32 GTR. T51R SPL ball bearing turbo kit. That's actually good news! It'd be painful to have a toasted tranny on that car. Phew! Time to work on those gear shifts then! GTR_driver 10-28-2004, 05:58 AM Majority said there was a problem with the tranny, where are they now? SkylineUSA 10-29-2004, 12:05 PM Majority said there was a problem with the tranny, where are they now? I do admit, that the tranny sounds like there is something wrong with it. I guess you learn something new every day. psychorallyfreak 10-30-2004, 12:33 AM It's still a godawful "CHUNK" when they put it in first... CaTasHtRoPhE 67 10-30-2004, 01:49 PM Thats the worest noise to hear and your driving a skyline your killing it. skyline trany 10-30-2004, 06:18 PM yep the trany is usless but reving up that skyline was pointless :screwy: i3o2Matt 10-30-2004, 08:15 PM he did shift kinda slow...really slow actually...i dont even shift that slow when i'm drivin normally...i got a maxima...but still...and when i race...i shift like really fast...which is what he should have been doin when showin off the car...not shiftin slow like that... Classicrocjunkie 11-03-2004, 03:02 PM crunchy... blasian_man 11-03-2004, 03:18 PM Also, is that guy wearing a gi in the video? it really looks like he is, maybe he's shifting slow b/c he's just learning how to drive. i always thought that all Gt-r's were awd, learn somthing new everyday i3o2Matt 11-04-2004, 11:27 AM if he's just learning how to drive...why is he makin a video of how fast the car is?? lol even if he's just learnin...if ur showin off the car you can still shift fast...but thats my opinion... TurboHead1 11-08-2004, 10:56 PM The tranny is an HKS 6-speed tranny, yes it's supposed to sound like that, they are called dogmission trannies. They have straight cut gears, like reverse in mere mortals cars, so they make a very distinctive crunch/whine or whatever you want to call it. There is nothing he can do to prevent the sound. Very sweet car though! BeEfCaKe 11-10-2004, 08:36 PM He wasn't really trying to show off top speed because on the last run, he wasn't pushing the car at all, just cruising on 6th. Is it just me, or is he using his right foot for clutching?? twint88supra 01-09-2005, 02:01 AM heard that sound in a couple cars before with racing trannys catback23 01-09-2005, 11:20 AM Even syncholess transmissions aren't supposed to sound as horrible as that. The dude doesn't look like he knows what he's doing. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
