Hello im just getting into car racing and performance and was looking for some ideas to get me started, hopefully you can help...

1. I read that an h22 is a bad engine swap idea, what engine would fit my car that spits out 180+ hp

2. What exactly are stages. as far as turbo goes

3. How do you remove the rear speakers, being that one of mine is busted

4. are JL subs worth the money?

5. who makes the best catback exhaust under $400

6. is there anyway to make my car even lighter, that wont kill performance?

thanc for the help

ok best swap will cost you 5g's the only swap with valid mounts is the K20 straight out of an acura rsx type s --- from japan not legal here 230 whp 6 speed -- you can also throw a turbo made by SF which will give you the ability to beat a stock RSX motor here in the states it will cost 2800$ -- the best exaust will cost ya close too 500$ you need wide pipe for the turbo - the best place to go to get answers liek this is www.7thgencivic.com those kids are nuts with nice 7th gen civs-- i am personally going with the turbo cause of the look and sound the JDM swap is too expensive

so yuor saying that the only engine that would fit is illegal? that sucks, come on.. as for turbo callibrating with exhuast, will catback not work, do i need to go wider?

the k20 has been swapped into the new civics, it takes alot of cash being that the engine is new. Come visit us on www.7thgencivic.com our doors are always open, and you can check out our rides and we will answer all of your questions. And there are some good vendors on the boards that can hook you up on sweet buys. In the DIY section at 7thgen it has step by step instructions for the rear deak removal.

for 7th gen just the k20 swap they are working on getting motor mounts for b18's but not yet
as for getting more litter out of a SOHC boaring out will do that but its not worth it unless you had a DOHC - get the turbo dude 13 sec no prob

hmm.... you can get a b16 or b18 in there... we did one i think it was last week on an 02 i think it was.. forgot already.. but we put in a b16 with custom mounts... if you wanna do that kind of a swap and considering there is no mounts available yet... see if you can find a shop that will do custom mounts for you

whoohoo... as soon as the shop finds a k20 type s engine there supposed to let me know... now to answer your questions...

1. h22 engines are way to heavy to put in our civics.. you would really need to do something about the front suspension if you do

2. this is not my department... anyone care to answer this one

3. you have on 01 and its already busted... damn you must be blasting your sounds to the max... first you gotta remove the rear side panels.. which is a pain in the but the you can remove the rear panel... after doing in so many times its like second nature.. but i converted my rears from the 6x9 to 5 1/2

4. i grew up on JL's so i love them like crazy... but for some reason i moved to a new area and the shops out here didnt carry JL's so i converted over to rockfords and now im in love with them too... honestly there comparable but someone could say otherwise

5. i wouldnt know... i dont have a cat on my exhaust... but if i ever wanted to put one my local shop said they could weld a high flow one for $100

6. remove all that stuff in the trunk.. cardboard cover.. carpet.. spare tire.. jack.. and now that i am shaving the door handles.. the parts for the stock door handles and locking mechanism alone was 20lbs... that was on just one door. remove all the plastic moldings inside the car... theres so many thing you can remove its not even funny... just how far do you wanna go... and last but not least i remember reading somewhere that they removed this useless piece of metal from the gas cover and it shaved off a few ounces or so..haha.. now that was funny when i read it
