17" rims scrapingnemesls_2000 01-21-2002, 12:06 AM I just upgraded my stock 14" Civic wheels for 17" rims. I've already lowered my car w/ the H&R racing springs that give it a 2.5" or 2.75" drop, I can't remember which one. Anyway, my question is: I knew my tires would scrape when I tried to turn, but is there anything I can do to reduce this? Is there something I can add, take off, or anything I can do??? Racing Rice 01-21-2002, 12:34 AM Rolling may help alittle, but its not a fun process... If you want more details on that, do a search its been covered a couple times before.. texan 01-21-2002, 12:43 AM You could also not go with such a huge drop, try something less than 2" worth of drop to start with. CivicSiRacer 01-21-2002, 09:11 AM I'd raise up the car or go buy some spring spacers at Autozone or Pepboys. YOu have to jack upthe car and insert the spacers in between the coils. nemesls_2000 01-21-2002, 10:12 AM Originally posted by CivicSiRacer I'd raise up the car or go buy some spring spacers at Autozone or Pepboys. Sometimes cutting a small section away from the inner wheel well is all thats needed. The part of frame that its rubbing against. Otherwise you will have raise it a little...or run the risk of making a tight turn and having your whole lower front section come off. You also can look to see if there is a tire with less wheel wall depth. This is what I had to do when I changed out my stock rims. 1CiViC4u2Nv 02-27-2002, 02:56 PM i have the same setup-17x7 rim on 205/40/17 tire on a 96 civic. i just bought neuspeed coilovers, and want to have a 2" drop. my wheel offset is 40mm and i don t rub at all with stock height. will i rub with this 2" drop and the 40mm offset??? would these so called "spring spacers" help me out any and what exactly do they do??l8r:bandit: Protek 02-27-2002, 03:06 PM Originally posted by 1CiViC4u2Nv i have the same setup-17x7 rim on 205/40/17 tire on a 96 civic. i just bought neuspeed coilovers, and want to have a 2" drop. my wheel offset is 40mm and i don t rub at all with stock height. will i rub with this 2" drop and the 40mm offset??? would these so called "spring spacers" help me out any and what exactly do they do??l8r:bandit: Well if you have coilovers then you wont need spacers. If you drop it 2" and you rub then just adjust the coilover to rais your car till you dont get anymore rub. Thats the whole reason you get coilovers rather than springs, cus they are adjustable. Gusto222 03-04-2002, 11:31 AM I yusta have a 2.5"(front) & a 3"(back) drop on my car w/ Focal 17x7.5 rims w/ tha 205/40s -- & i had NO RUB @ ALL!!! -- But whateva.. yeah my camber was off lil bit in tha back... but soo lil that you couldnt even tell... like tha rim/tire were just missing tha lip by like 1/8 of an inch... -- it was soo damn sweet-- although my car scrapped tha ground when i drove.. so i raised it up .25" & then everything was fine... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
