Does anyone here know if a manual rack from a 92-95 civic will fit in my car? Looking for a bolt in application. And also doeas anyone here know what i would need for a 5 lug conversion. Can i just use an integra's hub.

Not sure about the manual rack but I would assume the '92-'95 Civic steering rack would be a direct fit since we have the same chassis and steering setup (to my knowledge). My vote is yes. :D

As for the lug conversion, you just need to yank the suspension parts from an Integra Type-R. Should be a direct replacement. I'm not aware of any modifications necessary since we use the same suspension.

That is exactly what i was thinking....I used to have a 91 CRX, and it felt 100% better at highway speeds due to the manual rack and pinion. Yeah it kinda sucks in parking lots, but the better control at speed is worth it for me.

yeah I agree...one from a civic should bolt right up..you could also look for one from a 93 del sol w/o PS ..thats what i have...
as far as a 5 lug conversion..i would have to ask why bother ?? i mean are you going to be running so much power that 4 lugs isnt strong enough..cause i would think not. its just alot of money and trouble to go thru for nothing more than an extra lug nut...and then as far as rims you would have to find wheels that came in both a 4 lug and a 5 lug so that your front and rear rims match....or you swap out your rear aswell and in that case you would need a new perportioning valve too, so that you could compensate for going to rear disc.... the only plus its gonna give you in all realness is a few cool points..but only if you have a type R motor swap and all JDM setup to complement it....I mean thats motor mod money......but thats just my opinion

He's got a '94 VTEC, so he already has rear disc brakes. I don't think he needs to swap his proportioning valve for just switching to five-lug - unless he wants to upgrade his brake system while he's in there.

As for why he wants five-lug, you got me. :p Maybe he wants Type-R wheels. lol I do odd things too sometimes just because I want to regardless if it's a waste of money or not. I say go for it if it's what he wants.

And if he wants to do away with power steering, try what my roommate did. Just remove the power steering belt. Works like a charm and you still have power steering to put it back if you need to. And it's free. :)

i was actually gonna do that, but its not good for the rack. Power assited racks use a different kind of lubricant than manual racks due to the less stress on the power assited ones. Over time, a power rack without a belt will wear out. The whole five lug deal was just to be different, but if it is really all the troublesome, than screw it. :)

The 5-lug conversion isn't that troublesome. You just have to use the correct ITR parts. Just a suspension swap - mostly just the arms and everything attached to them I believe. I don't think you have to change struts though. I'll probably never do the conversion, but I don't feel the need to. If you like being different, then go for it. You'll be happier with your car in the long run if you put the effort into doing what you want with it.

Didn't know about the rack wearing out without the belt. My roommate's Integra has been holding up well though.

Hey man,

Found this in my Team Sol forum. Hope it helps out with your steering rack conversion. :)

very good find....I'll have to try it out. I've got to go take a look at my car and see if it can be done without removing the rack from the car.

you should be able to as far as I know..its an elbow banger tho...but hey removing a rack without a lift sucks..so hope for the best..good luck

i'm not bragging or anything, but i do have a lift (well my stepdad does), and your right, it makes working on cars 100% easier. I can't stand it when it rains and i have to use jackstands inside the shop. More time consuming, and not as safe as well.
