Tires For 02 Silverado 5.3 BRANDO 01-20-2002, 06:38 PM
I WAS JSUT WONDERING IF ANYONE KNEW HOW BIG OF A TIRE THAT I COULD USE ON MY TRUCK. IT IS A 02 SILVERADO Z71 WITH 16 INCH FACTORY WHEELS. I AM TRYING NOT TO BUY NEW WHEELS SO I KNOW THAT THEY CANT BE TOO BIG BUT I WAS JSUT WONDERING IF ANYONE HAS ALREDY DONE THIS TO THEIR TRUCK. P.S. IT IS 4X4 i.e. Z71 MountaineerTom 01-30-2002, 04:29 PM I plan on getting 285/75-16's this spring/summer (followed by a 3 inch body lift later on but not required for 285's). Many people have done that on the stock wheels with no problems. Some have put 295/75-16's on with some cranking on the torsion bars. I think I've even seen a guy with 305/75-16's, but personally, I think that's too much for stock rims and no lift. dhughins 02-21-2003, 08:30 PM i have 285/75/16 on my 2000 ext. cab 4x4. fit fine. but now I just got 16x8 rims now the tires scrubs because the wider rim. gonna have to find a fix but cant afford a lift. mdrz71 05-14-2003, 02:16 PM I have 285/75/16 BFG All Terrains on my Z71. I adjusted the torsions slightly and it worked out great. I wouldn't go any larger than that on a stock wheel. If your Silverado is one that sits a little on the low side you may want to use the 265/70/16 which is stock on the Offroad package. kenny-1907 11-18-2004, 08:32 PM I have 255/85/16 BFG MT'S and they do not rub plus they are alot narrower that the 285's so it is alot easier driving around in snow as well as being a little easier on gas mileage jeverett 11-19-2004, 06:35 AM You can fit 285's with no problem. 305's will fit barely, but you might have to slightly trim the lower bumper valance.
