When smoking your tail lights do you have to sand it first or can you just spray it on? What kind of paint do you recommend using?

Don't sand it, just make sure they are very, very clean and dry. I sprayed a good 15 VERY thin coats on mine, waiting about 10-20 minutes in between. Spraying just a few thick coats will make them look grey'ish and foggy once they dry. Just take your time, should take a whole afternoon if done right, and it will be well worth it.
