hey guys i just got my 96 ls coupe with 105k and its driving fine the engine sounds good and it handles well for the most part except sometimes albiet rarely around town at 30-50 and all the time between 55-85mph the steering wheel shakes a little bit from 55 to 75 it gets progressively worse then from 75-on up it goes away a little but its still present the problem isnt too bad now and im having our family mechanic look at it this week hes busy so i cant get him to look at it till friday (its saturday now) anyone know if driving more will make this problem worse? i pretty much have to drive to work about 30 miles on the highway everyday back and forth so if its going to hurt the car the longer i go on ill bring it to another shop before i get the good trustworthy mechanic to look at it and does anyone have an idea what this problem is or could be, based on the description of it?
thanks

1. alignment
2. tires need to be balanced
3. tires are shot
4. wheels are bent
5. a very bad case of warped rotors. Do the brakes pulsate?

I think you will be ok driving it untill it gets looked at.

Thanks for the informative response i really apreciate it and yes the brakes pulsate when i slow down after the problem is at its worse could i isolate the problem by assuming that since the steering wheel is shaking and not the car that the problem is up front?
thanks

Yea, it's up front.

Most of the time the tires just need balanced. Hopefully that is what's wrong. It's the cheapest thing to deal with.
