Sorry I couldn't make it to the track: clutch is gone

Yay I plan a trip to the track only to have my plans foiled by a lousy clutch. I was really working on my launches, and anticipating to beat Jeff's Sleeper GTP times. Unfortunately my clutch couldn't hold on, probably due to the 6000 rpm launches I was doing (My best 60' time was 1.917 sec.). Sorry dudes I guess i'm a :loser: for not showing. I just ordered a clutch masters stage 1 clutch. It's suppose to hold up to 400 horsepower, so hopefully I won't have this problem again. Once again I apologize. :banghead:

So does this mean I win?

:smokin:

i doubt that means you win...
;)
you'd have to actually RACE to win, no?

but he's got you romped to 60'...

Are you on crack? He has defaulted clearly I am the winner. :screwy:

Hey its cool you can hate on me, my car, and my feeble attempts at humor.

But you still have a slow piece of shit of a car. :smokin: j/k

defaulted?
only if he doesn't race...
which he said he would...
if you broke, and needed to fix your car, you'd feel the same...

at least my slow POS car isn't ugly... OH! ;)

Yeah you win this contest Jeff :iceslolan . My car's clutch is slipping so badly that when I stomp the gas the revs go up, but the car's mph doesn't exactly climb :cwm27: I had the same problem with my former 98 Cobra (yes I have owned a slew of cars). It can commute me from place to place, albeit kinda funnily, cause you hear the turbo spool, it just doesn't go anywhere particularly quickly. I'd estimate that right now i'd get owned by an RSX Type S that was stock. :cwm27: Fear not though buddy, cause as bad as a your 60' time is compared to mine, it's gonna get even worse once I get the new clutch :evillol: I bought a clutch master's stage 1 clutch, which is good for 400 horsepower. I'll make sure to get a 1.8 sec. 60' time on one of my 1/4 mile times. This will still suck though, cause the weather was ultimately ideal outside right now, and it's gonna be hot in June. Oh well, gotta roll with the punches.

At least you haven't been having the same problems that evo's around here are having. Horror stories about whole transmissions needing to be replaced after around 350 miles. I'm not talking rebuilding it and replacing a few parts, damage so bad they actually have to replace the whole tranny.

Hey man don't curse me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's bad enough i'm paying close to $700 for a clutch (that of course includes the install).

Your 60s are great but what are your I2s 5.8-6.0s or 5.6-5.7s?

I gain 22+mph in the second 1/8 what about you?

Hey Jeff, that is one nice Grand Prix you have there. Looks mean and agressive and im sure the power in the engine backs it up.

ooh! Good thing I couldn't make it then! haha..

700 bucks including hardware and labor isn't all that bad.. When I go upgrade my clutch, I think it'll be like 700 for the clutch alone!

$700 for the clutch alone is insane. I'm so pissed off at Mitsubishi motors for these weak ass clutches they put in the evo it isn't even funny. I had taken vacation time and everything. They should pay for the new clutch I am buying IMO. I mean I paid $27K for this car.

Will the new clutch void the warrantee at all?

Yeah it will probably void the powertrain warranty. If I have any problems with that I will just install a stock clutch before taking it back to the shop.

Want to trade? Factory GTR clutches are shocking! They can't handle hard launches at all if you produce anything over factory power.

I feel for you. Mine has bascilly expired also and is only 2 years old with 20,000 miles on it. It is a good single plate though. 5 puck ceramic/ceramic paddle with a 2250 lb pressure plate. Not abusive or on/off yet will handle my 7,500 rpm launches. Cost is about $250 USD for the clutch plate plus another $150 USD to rebuild the pressure plate, then a skim on the flywheel and put it back in.
